Has anyone ever had it engage the brakes?
YES... Car to the left cut in front of me to make a right-hand turn and before I could even react, brakes were automatically applied and prevented a collision that would have otherwise occurred! I am very happy that they worked!

This was a first for me. We were driving on a two lane semi-rural highway at 60 mph when I got a pre-collision alert on the instrument cluster and an urgent sounding chime.

There were a couple cars coming the other direction and one car waiting to enter the highway from a road on my right. None of them were a threat to cause a collision.

It happened far enough in advance that I could have avoided any collision that was imminent so that’s reassuring.

The warning was a large red box with the words in white letters. I was surprised to have the warning occur in that situation.
I’ve had four short false collision alerts in 6 months. Other than that the forward collision assist doesn‘t work at all. Two dealerships gave up because it doesn‘t give any codes. Real troubleshooting is dead.

Interesting reading all of these comments. My front end assist went of this morning for literally no reason, which it has done before. I would agree with the owner who said 4x in 6 months. That sounds about right (if not more). It scares the daylights out of me when it happens. Thanks for the manual info, btw!!!!

My Pre Collision Alert came on tonight on My way home from work in My 2025 Maverick and slammed on the brakes with nothing in front of Me and scared the crap out of Me. The windshield was clear so the sensor wasn't obstructed and it was below zero outside.

It does seem to be more sensitive in the cold. It’s yelled at me a few times in the past week. At least the wife isn’t temperature sensitive when it comes to applying the passenger brake. She’s still more sensitive than the Bronco is.
