On Board Tire Pressure gauge and spare

What does everyone else call it? That’s all I’ve ever called it. My Escape had it come all the time with one wheel/tire but just when it was cold and borderline pressure.

IDK but I call it LTPW low tire pressure warning. Yours is more visual. My 2016 Subaru did the same .. that warning was on a lot for no reason

When I put the full size spare in, I had them add a TPMS sensor to that wheel. You are correct in that the stock full size spare does not have a TPMS sensor though. I just want to point out that the spare can have a TPMS if you make it that way.

Can you? if you put a TPMS on the spare you'll have 5 TPMS in total, so how will the car know which ones to display? It can only display 4 TPMS.

It may require a trip to the tire store to activate the “new” one once you start using the spare, but it can be made to work. As I said, I have a sensor in my spare. I was supposed to rotate it in a month ago when I did my oil change, but instead I just rotated the existing 4. I was going to put that spare on and leave the ”new spare” in the garage as I went for a drive so the system could pick up the new one, maybe. If that didn’t work, Discount Tire would straighten it out for me.

The short answer is that there are ways to make it work.

Maybe a bad TPMS?

That’s what it appears to be. Tire is still at 35 psi after one week.
