That would equate to a 20% drop in oil life every 1K miles...can that be right?
I wouldn't spend too much time extrapolating like that. The IOLM uses an algorithm to account for driving conditions and habits to set a change interval. You can read more about it at this link. If your specific driving conditions/habits don't seem to match up with the IOLM recommendations you may have to discuss it with your local dealership service department. I've never heard of one of these things malfunctioning.

Hello Bronco Sport fans! I'm changing my oil & filter every 3,000 miles regardless of what our manuals say. Looking for feedback from you.
A Mobil One oil and Wix filter change can be had (if you farm that out) for about $80, And engine change? not so inexpensive. Gained sleep NOT worrying whether your waiting to long between intervals? PRICELESS!

10k/1 year. Motorcraft filter. Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil.

12-pack shelf pack of Motorcraft filters from Rockauto.
10k to long for turbo engine with direct injection. 5k is optimal I believe.

This is an opinion held by many, but it's unsupported by data. Ford's recommended change interval is based on millions of hours of data. Further, early oil changes are wasteful and bad for the environment.

I’m using full synthetic oil. And I don’t want to go broke wasting oil. When I had my transit connects with the 2.5 engines. I did oil changes ever 10k. BUT those engines were not direct injection. One had 315,000 miles, and the other had 250,000. I sold both will well running engines. But turbos and direct injection leads to a lot of carbon buildup behind valves and intake. And oil can become diluted with fuel if not changed frequently enough. Just my opinion and thoughts. Take it or leave it!

Then why wait for 5,000 miles? Why not change it every 3,000? Or 2,000?
Math is easier in 5's to track and requires no thinking. That's why I like every 5000

My psychic told me to change the oil every 3,333 miles -- regardless of conditions -- and she's never been wrong!

Off topic. We have a house on OBX. There's a FB page of people getting stuck in the sand in Corolla.

Very funny picture of two guys trying to push a stuck Tesla truck.

Comments about tryng to push a 9,000-pound vehicle stuck in the sand. ?
