i have a 2024 bronco sport big bend , with the 1.5 l engine.
on acceleration it the engine sounds like it coming apart.
loud rattling sound.
searching the web - its likely the injectors making this noise.
with the window open - not so bad
windows closed -that's when its the loudest.
gas milage is good 34 on highway 24 in city
any comments , opinions would be appreciated

Rattling (or engine knocking) during hard acceleration can also be caused by preignition. This is usually caused by ignition timing too advanced or poor-quality gas. Since the timing is computer controlled and have knock sensors to adjust the timing, I wouldn't think that's an issue.
Look up preignition - Engine Knocking if that's what's going on you can cause engine damage.
Try a tank of quality high test gas and see if the Rattling stops. This would eliminate a low-quality gas issue. If that doesn't help get to the dealer ar a qualified mechanic.

I don't think the fuel injectors can get that loud when accelerating.

My 2 cents worth, good luck

I remember reading something about a spring valve on the turbo getting old and making a noise. Have that checked

Watch the Octane rating of your gas. 87 is the Regular most places here and that is what my manual calls for on my 2022 Big Bend. I have 50K and get a bit of rattle on idle and that is it. Make sure your oil is full, sometimes low oil will cause valve chatter as well as wrong octane. What brand of gas are you running? Also remember you can burn valves with the higher octane. Good Luck and let us know what you find. Rodger

i have been running 87 in my 1.5 liter bb from what ever gas station is close .
all the same rattle / noise
i just filled up with 91 octane and drove a bit.
smoother more power rattle gone - only the engine sounds i would expect to hear
complaint fixed - thanks so much to everyone that has replied!!
so its higher octane for me and the 1.5 L bb
what's this about valve damage due to higher octane??
any comment on this?

Ihad the same issue using BJ'S gas. Switched brands and no more noise. Tried higher octain too and ran just as well. NO more BJ gas.

I have a 2024 Big Bend and have no issues whatsoever with noise or rattling at any speed or under hard acceleration. Initially I used 87 octane without any issues and now I use 91 or 93 without issue. I do get better mileage with the higher octane.

Per the owner's manual: (The elusive owner's manual. LOL)

For best overall vehicle and engine
performance, premium fuel with an octane
rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The
performance gained by using premium fuel
is most noticeable in hot weather as well
as other conditions, for example when
towing a trailer. See Towing (page 235).

Do not be concerned if the engine
sometimes knocks lightly. However, if the
engine knocks heavily while using fuel with
the recommended octane rating, contact
an authorized dealer to prevent any engine
damage.
We recommend Top Tier detergent
gasolines, where available to help minimize
engine deposits and maintain optimal
vehicle and engine performance. For
additional information, refer to
www.toptiergas.com.

How many miles?
Is the engine accelerating smoothly?
Does it feel like the engine is cutting out?

It can be very difficult to describe a sound.

Electronic Direct and Port Fuel Injection can be a little noisy when idling. But the sound is not noticeable when accelerating and driving on the road.

Long story but same result. 1.5 on my Big Bend, 2023, no oil or gas additives and at about 12,000 miles now. I have been running 91 or 93 for about the last 1,000 miles. I was hearing what sounded like a rattle, possibly a ping but I think not a knock, only at going about 15 mph, under 1500 rpm while cold. Same spot on the road every day. There was a slight incline. Tried it in sport mode which raised the rpm....noise gone. Tried driving it so it would stay in lower gear and no noise. Not sure what to make of it...poor gas...maybe some kind of ignition preignition or something worse? After 2 tanks of BP 91 or 93...noise is gone no matter how I try to repeat it. This wasn't the same crap brand I was using before so now I believe all the things we hear about Top Tier fuel and running a turbo engine on better fuel grades.
