OK… I just put the replacement spare (Falcon Wildpeak 235/65R17) in the well and it fits perfectly, although one just slightly larger may not.

Also… I asked the Discount Tire manager about any difference between this and the OEM. He was not sure if there is any on this particular one, but said that when manufacturers like Falcon make specials for Ford and others) the differences are only is the rubber compound and not the cosmetics. The tire looks the same to me!
It was actually discussed here by the Falken rep. There are differences so that Falken can sell tires to Ford and meet Ford's requirements for fuel mileage and noise standards.

Yup. 235/65-17 is the OEM size, 245/65-17 is the normal size. Or so to speak. The 235/65-17 is specifically designed for the Sport as an OEM version. Has softer rubber, more rounded edges.
Not size, tire part number. There is an OEM Falken Wildpeak A/T and a commercially available Falken Wildpeak AT3/W. They are not the same tire.

Not wanting to argue but they have stated several times that specifically the 235/65-17 size is an OE tire.

We can ask him again, but I would expect the same answer.

“I believe this is the 235/65 and 245/65 in 17's? Biggest difference is the the 235's are the OE tire for the sport. The 245s are the off-the-shelf wildpeak AT3w. Technical differences? 245s would be half an inch taller than the 235s but not much of a difference in terms of width. 245s weigh 8 lbs more, so this will affect MPG/performance of the vehicle. 245s has a higher load capacity due to this added, on the other hand. The 235s does have a softer compound, so it won't last as long as the 245s (being that it is a OE tire), however I haven't came across a case where a owner complained about a short life. Then again, they are probably utilizing the vehicle to it's full potential & understand tire life would be sacrificed.”

I just ordered a new Wildpeak 235/65R17 to replace the factory spare Pirelli. Discount tire only gave me $40 for the Pirelli, but at least all five will NOW be the same size!
That full size tire fit in the back of spare tire?

See post #13 earlier in this thread he reported that the 235 fits in the spare tire well without issue.

Tire Rack is showing two different Wildpeak tires in the 235/65R17 size. The A/T3W is the OEM tire. The A/T Trail is not. So not all Wildpeak 235 tires are OEM tires only the A/T3W is the OEM tire.

Exactly! Falken has been very clear about this.
It's odd that they made a special size for an OE in a model name that doesn't come in that size. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. It's different enough from the sizes above and below that it should barely be considered the same model as the COTS versions.

Yeah its weird Flacon designed the Wildpeak A/T3W 235/65R17 with lighter weight side wall and slightly different tread pattern to reduce noise per Ford specs. But the 225 and 245 A/T3W have the heavier stiffer sidewalls and regular A/T3W tread pattern. So anyone who buys the 235/65R17 A/T3W gets the Ford spec'ed tire because Falcon decided they are going to do one tire in that size/model and it will be the different Ford spec tire.

Note how the 235 tire is lighter then the 225 tire even though it is a bigger taller tire:

it does. You have to take out the “carpet” padding. It’s tight, but it goes in. I haven’t had any extra noise from it.
Carpet padding? My Outer Banks doesn't have any carpet padding. (heads out the door to go to the dealer to complain to the salesman) :cwl:
