Hello everyone

The lease on our 2022 Badlands ends in about four weeks. We started considering our options a few months back and ended up ordering a 2025 Lincoln Corsair because the pricing on 2025 Bronco Sports was ridiculous compared to what we were paying for the 2022. We’re talking hundreds more each month, even with employee pricing. The Lincoln was a much better deal.

Anyway, the Lincoln arrived at the dealer recently and was damaged in transit. No one knows how it happened… or they’re not owning up.

The dealer is going to repair the damage and Lincoln is going to pay. It will sanded and repainted. They’re claiming it will be indistinguishable from factory.

I called Lincoln and they offered either a 6 year/100,000 mile premium care warranty or 4 year/60,000 mile premium maintenance plan as a goodwill gesture.

I’ve included a picture of the damage.

What do you guys think? What would you do? I’m worried about the quality, durability and longevity of the paint job.

That repair won’t be an issue. I’d ask for both the warranty and the maintenance plans to be honored for your time. Chances are they don’t go for that but I’d be asking for more than they offered just to negotiate something else.

What do you think would be reasonable to ask for?

That's not bad at all! And it's limited to just the bumper too. Should be an easy paint match since the car is brand new (in theory).

Have them fix it. I’m surprised they didn’t before you saw it. Happens way more than people know.

At least happening in transit Ford is fixing it on their dime and you are potentially getting a kick back.
If somebody hits it with a shopping cart or a car door dings it in a parking lot, it would be on you and you'd be pissed off.
Overall not a big deal, they don't stay new forever, if your happy with the deal go for it

Honestly I’d be pretty stoked if I were you. Minimal damage fixed for free= free 100k premium warranty. I’d definitely ask for both and if they say no fight it a little to call their bluff.

We had a similar scrape on a new Mazda and the dealer repaired it so you couldn’t even tell it was damaged. It still looked indistinguishable when we traded it off. They didn’t offer any compensation so I’d say you won in this case. Go for both
