FORD ANNOUNCES BRONCO SPORT “WILDERNESS” EDITION​

New Trim from the Blue Oval Showing Serious Foray into Overlanding, Extreme Camping, DEARBORN April 1, 2026 /PR Newswire/ -- Ford shakes up the market again with the recently announced two-door version of the popular Bronco Sport. Aimed towards a more active audience, the new Wilderness Edition is expected to have more substantial off-road chops than its larger siblings.

Sporting a 2.5” lift from other trims, it also will include 33” tires, factory-installed lighting, the rumored HOSS 4.0 suspension, and brush guards, but that’s not all. The newest Baby Bronco will have the 2.7L V6, though it wasn’t clear if that would be standard equipment or an extra-cost option. A new 10-speed automatic transmission is planned, with the possibility of a 6-speed manual transmission.

Pricing was not set at the time of the announcement, but it's expected to be in the $45,000-$50,000 range.

Considering Ford has dropped the 2 door from most of the full size trim offerings, no chance in the world they would have done this on the Sport. I do miss the April Fools jokes when still working.

I love it! 50 years ago, my boss called into the office pretending to be from the telephone company (before caller ID and when phones still had wires for you youngsters) and telling the receptionist that they were cleaning out the lines and she should tell people to place their phones in a wastebasket. She even got the approval from the top administrator to make the page. My boss was rolling over in laughter when she made the page over the company intercom.

Why not? Ford has no vehicle to compete with the Subaru Hybrid or the Toyota RAV4 Hrbrid. The lower models of the Sport are great City SUV,s and great for small families.With A Hybrid Powertrain which is in the Mavericks and Escapes and is the same chassis it makes sense to have a vehicle that would deliver 35 to 40 mpg.
