I might argue a bit with your analogy. The Ranger and F150 are both trucks built on a truck chassis, the Bronco is built on the Ranger platform and is a truck, the BS is built on the Escape platform and is a SUV. It kind of is apples and oranges. But I would agree buy whichever fits your needs and wallet.
This is true as far as the frame goes, but it doesn’t speak to capability. The Badlands has proven far more capable than the average SUV.

I wouldn't disagree with you but owning both the Bronco is the more capable. It really comes down to how you plan on using it. There are things I've done with the Bronco I wouldn't attempt with the BS. The BS is more practical for everyday driving.

I went to the Bronco Off-Rodeo in Moab. I was impressed with what the BS Badlands will do. It went through sand and some fairly heavy rock crawls without issue. The only drawback I see is clearance. I could hear the vegetation dragging on the underbelly on the rutted two tracks.

We ordered a full size 2 door, got tired of waiting and bought BS. Very happy with it although I just saw a lifted black 2 door with upgraded tire & wheel pkg in black, wow! If I traded it would be for looks only. BS is more practical for us.

The capability difference is not in dispute; the ratio is. You suggested since the BS is not body on frame it can’t be compared to the Bronco the way a Ranger may be compared to the F-150. I believe the ratio actually favors the BS in that comparison. In other words, the BS is closer in capability to the full-size Bronco than the Ranger is to the F-150.

Experienced the same in Moab! BS BL is an incredible vehicle. Definitely clearance. The BS can go some places the big Bronco can’t just due to size.

Agreed. A little more clearance would be a treat and the BS is narrow enough that we don't get brush marks (we call them Nantucket Pinstripes) from the spots where the trails get narrow.

NM pinstripes. I got 32 mpg coming back from Moab (downhill all the way). I never got that with my Jeep Liberty.

Not sure this is really valid unless you are talking about height. The difference in width is less than 3 inches. Now, 3 inch is 3 inches but I certainly wouldn’t claim the BS is more capable because it’s narrower by 3 inches.

I don’t know why people insist on comparing these as if they are in the same class. They are two completely different vehicles.

Completely agree. Definitely capable though. That is why I would take my fully outfitted FJC for more technical challenges but for most trips the BS BL is perfect!

I totally agree with you which was the point I was trying to make. Comparing the Bronco to the BS is like comparing apples and oranges, yes they are both fruit but very different. The BL is a notch above the other BS's. BS is a capable vehicle but it's more Escape than Bronco. I'm not saying that's bad it just what it is. We are totally happy with both vehicles. I could list the things that are better on the BS, more quiet, better ride, better MPG but all things considered if I had to choose between them the Bronco would win hands down.

Yep, I have. Went from a '21 BS BL to a '21 2dr OBX. Love it. To be fair it kind of fell in my lap, my dealer had a abandoned order and offered it to me for MSRP, how could I say no. I love my Bronco, there isn't a day that I regret buying it. Yes, its gas mileage is nothing to write home about but who buys these things for MPG, if you are worried about that then you should stick with a BS. They are totally different beasts, the Bronco is a truck and the BS is a SUV. Each has its market, buy the one that fits your needs and $$. You did sum it up pretty well, the BS is more practical but the Bronco is more fun, pop the top and the doors and head out to the wilderness or beach

We still have a BS in family, my wife has a '22 BS BL which she also loves.

If I was to get rid of my 21 BS BL I would definitely go with the Fullsize 2 door. I think it looks way better than the 4 door. Nice Broncos!
