I assume you're referring to the GR Corolla. Its 1.6L engine produces 300 hp with 26 lbs of boost. First, that's a lot of boost. 16-18 psi is a pretty typical number for production cars aimed at the enthusiast crowd; 26 psi is...a lot. We don't have any data on long-term reliability for this vehicle. Second, 300 hp comes at 6500 rpm (redline is 7200). The engine doesn't make it's full complement of torque until 3000 rpm. That kind of power delivery creates driveability issues that may be fine for a "hot hatch," but most people who drive compact SUVs are looking for something a bit more sedate.

I was under the understanding that the gr ran around 20-22psi but can hold 26psi.

I couldn’t find any info on the size of the turbo but high psi for smaller turbos is fairly common it’s the overall cfm you have to worry about.

26psi on a ko3 vs 26psi on a pte6262 are different animals.

I agree with you on the longevity thing though.

In the vein of Mark S's comment, here's food for thought:
Everyone's talking about getting more power from these Fords, but I drove a lot of 4x4's over the years without any thought of being under powered:
Bronco II with @ 96 hp
Jeep Cherokee with @ 100 hp
Jeep Cherokee with @ 150 hp
Bronco with @ 200 hp
(2) Jeep Grand Cherokees with @ 195 hp
International Scout with @ 200
Now have BS with @ 240 (regular gas); a regular "hot rod" by comparison. Don't think I want to chase more power any time soon.

Example? If it's the GR Corolla, that's not a fleet gas mileage rating engine. A totally different design on what they are going after (power verses gas mileage for fleet ratings).

My comments are that the 1.5 was developed and used for fuel ratings.

EPA estimated 21/28 for a 3200 lb vehicle. C&D observed 20 mph during testing. Power requires fuel; TANSTAAFL.

Nope, I'm agreeing with you. The GR Corolla isn't a good comparison with the Bronco Sport, either the 1.5L or the 2.0L. One is aimed at the performance/tuner crowd, the other is aimed at the everyday-driver-with-a-bit-of-off-road-capability crowd.

It was directed to others who are trying to take the 1.5 or 2.0 ecoboost engines and make them into something they are not designed to do, and expect reliability to be maintained.
