I assume you're referring to the GR Corolla. Its 1.6L engine produces 300 hp with 26 lbs of boost. First, that's a lot of boost. 16-18 psi is a pretty typical number for production cars aimed at the enthusiast crowd; 26 psi is...a lot. We don't have any data on long-term reliability for this vehicle. Second, 300 hp comes at 6500 rpm (redline is 7200). The engine doesn't make it's full complement of torque until 3000 rpm. That kind of power delivery creates driveability issues that may be fine for a "hot hatch," but most people who drive compact SUVs are looking for something a bit more sedate.I mean to be fair Toyota is making it happen.
