Wife and I bought a 2021 Outer Banks back when the Badlands was hard to get due to supply issues. We were ok with it except found the 1.5L underwhelming, but it was expected. I was driving a Mustang GT that I ended up trading in because my wife was uncomfortable in it due to back issues from surgeries, etc.. I went the Lexus route and bought a 2023 ES350 Ultra Luxury thinking I'd be happy with a very reliable vehicle I can keep a very long time. My wife ended up trading in the Bronco for an RX350 at the same time. I just wasn't that happy with the ES350. Sure it got me to point a and b, but it was missing any fun factor and there were some things that bothered me. The seats for an ultra luxury were not comfortable to me. I've always liked Fords seats. The backup sensors would randomly go off as if a ghost was walking behind it and slam my brakes, the interior material was so delicate it could scratch just by touching it. My front facing camera got hit with a tiny pebble which cracked it and I had to pay $1200 to replace and calibrate it. The rear seats couldn't even fold down. It didn't feel like luxury vehicle to me. The insurance rates for it kept going up too which was starting to get upsetting.
I kept seeing all of the employee pricing ads for Fords and started seeing 2025 Bronco Sport videos pop up on my youtube feed. After watching a few I liked what I saw with the changes and figured I'd see what I could find out there. I found a Badlands with the Sasquatch package in Eruption Green (green is my fav color) at a dealership an hour and half away. We actually live 1 mile from a Ford dealer and refuse to ever buy anything from them from past experiences. The dealer was very up front with out the door pricing, didn't add on the doc fee or dealer fee that they advertise they charge on their site. They got us financed with our credit union at the lowest rate we sadly could get in 2025 and they even drove the Bronco to us. For my Lexus trade they gave me exactly what CarMax and Carvana would have given me so saved that tax money. It shockingly was the easiest buying experience ever and I've had my fair share of cars over the years.
The insurance savings alone was nice.
A lot will think I'm nuts for trading a Lexus in for a Ford and sure I lose that known reliability, but I like to enjoy what I drive. I've been through cancer (I can never say cured just remission) and other health challenges so I don't look 20 years ahead thinking I'm going to have the same car. In all honestly though if it weren't for the employee pricing I don't think I would have even looked so Fords campaign worked for me.
I've been very happy with the Bronco Sport and happy we went with the Badlands. The only things I have to knock is no folding mirrors, no ambient lightning in the Badlands, gray interior was the only option and the front and rear camera quality is really bad compared to the Lexus. I dig the digital dash although wish I could customize the colors like I could in the Mustang. I'm getting used to the tires. I don't find the road noise bad at all and the suspension is great.
I can't wait to take it places.
