I was wondering if anyone on here has thought about or have installed a killswitch onto their bronco sport. I had my eyes on this plug and play version however after contacting the company, realized its incompatible since "Ford has decided to go with soldered-in Starter and Fuel Pump relays, so our system unfortunately will not work with them". Since the fuse box doesn't have any relays at all, I did find the starter relay fuse (30A) which when taken out, the vehicle cannot be started however that would be a pain to take in and out all the time. The same company did mention they would look into creating a fuse version but in the meantime, is there any other DIY solution I could do? maybe something like a fuse bypass switch where it could look something like this? Not even sure if this would work in my case and also this solution isn't as fool proof as you can just remove the fuse and insert a normal fuse I believe? but it would be better than nothing I suppose.

Just wanted to see if anyone else went down this rabbit hole, any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks

From what I understand, even if someone got the vehicle started, if the key isn’t detected it won’t go into gear.
sorry I know that doesn’t answer any questions but I always figured a kill switch is redundant

fair, I think I got paranoid with these keyfobs and being able to scan the signals that come from them in order for an attacker to hijack those signals and start the car. I guess putting the key in a Faraday/RFID pouch would solve that. it would still be super comforting for me knowing the car couldn't be started no matter what though. I appreciate the response nonetheless!

EDIT: I realize you mentioned after starting the car and to put into gear, not to start it in general. that makes sense and definitely helps me sleep at night a little better. but double the protection couldn't hurt

When I rode expensive Ducati Superbikes, my riding buddies had all manner of anti-theft stuff/things/gadgets...

Me?

Excellent full coverage insurance!

Ain't nobody got time to worry like that.

I had a student that had a Honda Civic tuner car. He had some kind of super duper alarm that he claimed would prevent any theft. Going to his car one morning he tripped over the alarm on his door mat and the car was gone. A real FU from the thieves.

Even with the relays soldered in, couldn't you find the hot wire to fuel pump and splice in a switch?
My experience: only 1 vehicle stollen: early 1980s: 1975 Ford F250HD taken by Mexican to return home to family at holidays. Vehicle alarm bypassed, multi-tank switch left truck dead on side of road in Mexico, where it was stollen by police. From then on, I added a steering wheel bar, never had an issue since.

Yeah I was hoping someone knew where I can look for this hot wire, because then as you said I would just wire in a switch to that. I'm just not 100% sure where to look and when that wire should be hot. As in should it be hot when the car is in accessory mode and not when the car is fully started? or should it only be hot during starting and then not hot afterwards. If I can figure those out and where exactly on the bronco sport I need to be looking that would be super super helpful!

Any steel box would work as a Faraday cage. I use a steel box that holds 4 by 6 index cards.

Actually the OEM anti-theft system will disable operation of the starter, fuel injectors and the spark plugs. Even if you "Hot Wired" the starter, fuel pump the injectors and spark plugs will not fire off. Also if you have Connected Services active you can track your vehicle anywhere. Now breaking the glass and taking things from the inside is a different story. After owning a Jeep for 7 years I have a habit of removing valuables.
