Fellow BS'ers...

Put on a few mods this weekend was going to share the experience...

First, I paid to have these mods put in at Car Toys in North McKinney Texas. Zach there is the installer I work with and I think the only one that I want touching my car, he is very committed to his craft and does good work.

What did I have done:
These were all tied into an existing Auxbeam 8 Gang Switch Box that others have posted about.

First the Diode Dynamics Fog Lights:
I decided to get these on a whim, I figured that the front end of the car would likely have to be removed to get the Nudge Bar on and decided to have the Diode Dnynamics lights installed since it would likely be easy (for me anyway) to get done while the other work was being done.

I actually really liked the look of the Factory Fog Lights and honestly had never actually used them at all. In fact, didn't even look at them before I saw the Diode Dynamics... I did verify I knew how to turn them on one evening, and I was surprised by how little "extra light" the fog lights provided. Confess I wasn't overly impressed.

Anyway, from the look of the Diode Dynamics light, I really didn't like it as much, but it was supposed to be better and I had a wild hair so oredered and installed.

Here is the result:
Ford Bronco Sport Just some LIGHT conversation... 1688237436281

I honestly don't thin I like the light as much as the factory light from a aesthetic point of view....

But my opinion changed when I turned them on at night...
Zach (the installer) had said the original fog lights were pretty bright and he really didn't notice a difference...

That may be the case and I really don't have a way of measuring the difference/impact, but when I turned them on I was shocked by how much extra light that they provided. Remember that I was underwhelmed by the factory lights, so that was a pleasant surprise...

Now onto the Nudge Bar/Rigid Lights:
The Nudge Bar came unpainted (they warn you). I painted it myself, using Krylon Fusion All-in-One Spray Paint
Some Notes On That:
  • I'm a fan of this paint (had NEVER painted anything before getting this car, I painted the "wind thing" on the luggage rack using this paint which is what gave me the confidence to paint it by myself).
  • The Textured Black Paint is beautiful! But it catches on EVERYTHING and scratches really easy.
  • So I again used the Krylon Fusion All-in-One Spray Paint but I used a Clear Flat spray...
    • My thinking is this would cover the edges of the textured paint like an enamal and keep it from scratching.
    • I used Flat or whatever because I didn't want it shiny...
  • Well the flat paint attracts every spec of lint and dust there is in the surrounding states and seem to glue it to the bar...
    • However, I do think the enamel like property took.
  • Finishing this, I compared it to the black textured plastic bumper.
    • It didn't look bad, but it looked faded...
  • SO, I then used the Krylong Fusion All-in-One Spray Paint with but Clear Shinny...
  • The results are pretty damn close to what I wanted...
    • I don't know if it would have looked better without the clear flat or not, but it looks pretty good.

OK the Nudge bar did have some problems fitting (I think there is a warning on the website), but Car Toys ground it down and it seemed to go on fine.

Here is a pic "dressed" with Painted lens caps...

Ford Ranger Lifts Said the Nudge Bar doesn't interfere with the Front Camera or Driving Stuff, that isn't completely true, but it is something I can live with.

Here is a look with the forward camera:

The warning above is always a good idea...

Anyway, the end result is damn bright at night:

The Green Lights at the top I believe are after images from the camera catching the lights... (or Aliens if your are in New Mexico).

Going to something abit more street legal:

The Blue Backlights are pretty cool.

Some of you may have seen my pic of the Mictuning Rock Lighst (also car toys installed a few months ago).

Bringing these together puts me in a Blue Mood:

Ready for some light jazz.

A quick thank you again to everyone on this thread (yes even that one). I've never modded a car before and now you guys made me into a monster...

Alright BS'ers, Happy Trails!
To those of you that served, thank you for my freedoms...

Happy 4th of July Everyone.

I like your light bar, but, dang, they must manufacture that out of a billet piece of gold. $500 and it's not finished, nor does it come with any mounting tabs (those are add-on cost). Looks good, but I'm shopping elsewhere!

No offense to the nudge bar builder, but that price is steep. Not much there for the price.

The weld quality in the photo shown on the B.S. isn't very good. Are the ends of the tubing capped? Looks like possible rust also. JMO

Wait. You have a forward camera? Did you have that installed too?

Those blue back lights will earn you a ticket at some point. All it will take is some cop seeing them in a night when they have nothing else to do. Blue lights mean police.

I have friends that have been stopped for those color lights. Also for red/green orange halos. I have a relative that is in law enforcement in Volusia county Florida. And he lives for pulling people over for non-standard lights. Too many imposter LE in that area.

So enjoy your mods. I like the fog lights.

BS'ers:

The Nudge Bar was somewhat expensive, but honestly if I get what I want I'm not too picky. This was pretty much the only Nudge bar I liked that wouldn't obscure the forward facing camera (stock on a Badlands).

I don't know if the bar is completely solid, but it appears so, so no capped ends, but not really needed.

Overall, I'm happy with how it ended up.

Abit of background. I was married from 2000-2017. From about 1996 every new car went to my wife first, as she had long drives daily to get to work (I argued against getting the house so far from work, but she loved the house/area). Anyway, I effectively haven't had a new car/my car for over two decades and was recently driving a 2010 Honda Pilot. So this is my child in some ways.

Sleddog:

My kids have been saying the same thing (about the blue lights). In truth I RARELY use them, but it was a splurge (see above)....

That said I can just as easily go with purple or green or anything else...

I honestly hope the police in my area have better things to do than worry about my Bronco Sports lights being mistaken for a police/emergency vehicle...

I had a woman in a new Porsche SUV who clearly had too much to drink carve into my old cars doors with a key one night. Apparently didn't like the way I parked, though I was straight in my parking space and she was the one that had parked badly. It was all caught on multiple cameras, but the cops said they couldn't clearly see the act being done, so they didn't do anything. In a way I understand, but in another way it frustrates me that you can have someone committing a crime on camera (multiple) and them get away scott free...

Didn't mean to rain on your parade. As long as you are satisfied with what you've done that's what matters.

Being around off road vehicles for 40 years, including $1 million trophy trucks, it just seems in this day and age that there isn't room for inferior quality, no matter what's being offered by the aftermarket parts builders, or the cost. Maybe the quality has improved and if so, they should update the photos.

I hope your bar is welded better than that shown on their website. It won't be a solid bar, but I would think it has end caps to keep water and dirt out.

Your mods look great, including the fender flairs and steps. Are those Ford flairs?

Looks great to me. What about the nerf bar, do you have a link to the brand you went with? Yours is one of the very few I’ve seen.

TxHill:

The Nerf Bar (I think your referring to the side steps/rock rails) are from JCR.
Be aware you have to also get the Evap and Floor Skid.

In addition to everything else, I have a full set of Rock Rails and Skid Plates from JCR, with the exception of the Bash Plate.

I ordered it, but the disclaimer about not fitting the Badlands went up before the installation, so they wouldn't install it and I had to send it back.

I know some others have tried to get it on the Badlands. Need to cirle and see how it turned out.

Wireman:

The flares are the fender flare additions that you can upgrade to with the Bronco Sport, I think you can add them after market.

They also make them in the color of the vehicle, but I liked the look of these. I believe they call it the Type 1 Fender Flare.

I do like the aesthetic, but the fender flares do stick out about a inch/inch and a half from the car.

There are several concerns with that.

First, due to the boxy nature of the Bronco Sport and the complete lack of proximity sensors (my 2010 Honda Pilot had them and they were awesome) I always wonder if I'm going to scrape them when driving into the garage. For the same reason, you would have to watch them when offroading, though I didn't have a problem the one time I did off road.

Second, because the fender flare projects from the side of the car, I have to use a 1" Spacer to get the tire out there as well. This then limits my tire options. I have the Falken AT's on her now (I have to admit its been a damn good tire on and off road) at 235/65/17. If I want to put on the 245/65/17, or a 235/70/17, I think I have to lose the spacer. Going to a 245/65/17, my tires will "retract" in under the wheel well about 3/4". Just a frustrating trade off.

Happy Trails All....

Then again, you can leave the wheels tucked inside the fender flares and they will better do their job of protecting your paint from debris thrown up by the tires. ;)

I'm pretty sure your mirrors stick out more than the flares. When parking in my garage, my mirrors have about 2" of clearance on both sides.
