Ironically nope...not testy over the article...perhaps a bit too testy over everyone thinking they should pay for a base model and get the 2.0 engine, oversize tires, off road goat modes, leather seats, and all the best of their choosing. The Outer Banks was ideal for what you wanted. I probably would have been equally happy with the Big Bend. Didn't want the base, I've bottom lined on too many cars. Didn't want the Outer Banks and all the swank...Badlands, big tires, tow package. Those were my needs and what I paid for...I knew what each package entailed and chose accordingly. There are many who think Ford should offer some sort of personal needs grocery list. I'm glad you love your Bronco Sport, I feel the same with my options. There is always someone dissatisfied no matter what Ford offers...and nope...I don't shill for the company. I've driven FCA products for the better part of 20 years. Like you I found a Ford that hit home.
It seems to me especially from reading this thread that with all the trim levels of Bronco Sport, they did provide that list. I don’t know what more people could ask. All the different trims provide many options so different people can find and utilize their BSport for what they choose. You guys are a testament to that. You both have BSports, they are equipped differently with different intended uses and different capabilities. 4 BSports parked side by side could be totally different, totally different uses, different owners, which bring us to places like this forum to have a community. I say that was the exact intention and it was a smart and cool idea. Eliminating any of the trims seems shortsighted. Why make them if almost immediately you would remove one? Remove the one with the coolest name (Bias Alert lol) that’s sold out before it gets delivered ? Ridiculous.

Let's just say Badlands does go away. What I think would happen...
Options available for all models.
2.0
HOSS
Dual clutch locking diff
Thus no badlands model but the best features of badlands is available through the entire lineup.
OuterBanks becomes the top model add the three features and you have a badlands equivalent.

The Argentina version is called wildcat because the badlands name has something to do with bad marriage. Name is huge to large companies and if Ford is looking to expand to the global market, that's probably the reason Badlands would go away.

Maybe the trims are being renamed or eliminated, but you can still get a '22 Bronco Sport spec'd like a '21 Badlands via options. This simplifies branding and marketing: "wait, there's a Bronco Sport and it shares trim names with the Big Bronco? Wtf?" So nothing about price between Sport and Bronco, but further differentiating the lineups.

Who knows, fun to speculate.

There may be some truth to the article that no one here seems to want to accept & that is , the Badlands is said to be a 4x4 , which it is not , if compared to the normal thinking of the 4x4 world , like the Bronco is or will be , if ever in production , so Ford coming out with the Bronco , will defiantly hurt sales of the Badlands when it finally is manufactured , that is a marketing truth & Ford knows it . Badlands owners may not like to hear that or those still waiting for one , but those are facts & have to be considered .

You have to think the Bronco Sport line is a big test to see what the public desires , if it's a true 4x4 , then the Bronco will win against the Badlands hands down , I have talked to many who have preordered or are waiting to see the Bronco & have no interest in the Badlands for an off road vehicle .

I drive a Super Duty daily & it is a true 4x4 , but the BS is just too cool , no matter what motor is in it & thew Badlands has some capabilities , but not enough for me to pay the extra $$ , my wife will not be off roading anytime soon , The Beach yes.

Reasonable points but their "info" is openly stated "Not verified by Ford" and it's main basis is based on a freaking cargurus search....anyone who did ANY sort of research or has ANY sort of insight would see Badlands is far and away the most ordered Trim. Far and away the interest in badlands is very high and very profitable. Most dealers ordered floor stock early with focus on Big Bend trim. Those are showing up now while orders for Badlands were halted for chip and supply reasons. This report is pure lazy fiction. IF your scenario has any validity, the "rumor" isn't even close to what you stated.

So what fourthgear is saying is that Ford has determined that nobody wants the 2.0 engine. I mean, if there is no future Badlands trim, and I stated emphatically that the First Edition trim has been dropped, one can only extrapolate that the 2.0 has been dropped from the BS lineup! As the French say, “Quelle bummer”. I really like the 2.0. But I’m sure Ford knows best.

So... If Ford drops the Badlands. It may make a Badlands a collectible, if we live long enough :)

They could drop the Badlands trim and turn it into an off road package with a catchy name (BigFoot?). If they offered that across the remaining trims like they do with big Bronco I'd be cool with that.

The BL is a very capable vehicle for its class. Dropping the BL trim or the 2.0L and the twin clutch rear diff would be a huge mistake IMO.

I bought the BL for the engine as I will be towing often. If they dropped the 2.0L entirely I would probably have to pass on buying a future BS unless the 1.5L was put into a PHEV BS.

So in every Bronco Sport commercial and promotional video Ford shows what? A Badlands on an off road adventure. Badlands is the Bronco Sport flag ship trim level. Its what competes with Jeep Trailhawk SUVs. You think Ford is just gonna step back and let Jeep be the king of the off road? If anything Ford will come out with a more capable off road BS because Jeep is not going to just sit around and not improve try to compete.. We will probably be seeing a small SUV off road war cause that sells vehicles make profits.

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who heard Ford is gonna stop making the Bronco Sport Badlands last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.
