My friend has a Badlands (mine is on order) and she is trying to figure out if she can send text messages using voice commands over bluetooth. Is that possible?

Yes it is. At least I have sent text messages via the vehicle. My friend has a Badlands (mine is on order) and she is trying to figure out if she can send text messages using voice commands over bluetooth. Is that possible?
Thank you!https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/sync/sync-3/receiving-iphone-text-messages-with-sync-3/
Some links it seems say Sync 3 can only reply with one of the handful of canned messages via the screen. Weird. This is the first link I’ve found that shows how it can work. I just hold down the voice button on the steering wheel until Siri comes up, say text so & so, & start talking. Voice recognition isn’t great, they can certainly tell when I’m in the car & it’s half mangling my text, but it works. I presume it’s about the same with Android. Do other car brands implement this better?
You can say Hey Siri (if that’s your iPhone default) and say message Mark S (or whoever)According to multiple sources, you can listen and reply to text messages using Sync voice commands with an Android phone. You can listen to, but not reply to text messages using Sync voice commands with an iPhone. You cannot initiate a text message using either phone.
