Well, I got a rail car number from Ford this morning. Took me a while to figure out which company to track it from but finally figured it out. According to the rail company the car was dropped at the factory empty at 4:00 yesterday afternoon and that's the latest update. So apparently I've been assigned to that car but it hasn't been filled and left the factory yet. My tracker updated to shipped about 20 minutes after the railcar was dropped off and the email came in at 2:45 this morning.
I have shipped but since ce there is nit a date I figured I'm in the same boat. So did you call that other customer service number from that one post to get a rail car#

My BS Badlands that went into production on Jan 4th ( 8 days ago ) now shows todays date Jan 12 under “In production “ and as of this afternoon I can also see the list of ECM modules. At least I know it is alive. Hopefully it changes to Built in the next day or so.

Which rail company did you end up tracking? BNSF ships in and out of Mexico, not sure if Ferromex would bring it to the border? Mine will eventually end up on CN into Canada/Saskatoon by the sounds of things. Should be fun trying to track it for sure.

907 of 2212 if im lookingat the correct numbers. Sorry I missed this post.
No worries. I was just curious if we were real close in numbers since we've been nearly identical going down the line. Interestingly it looks like we were in different batches yet got build at the same time. I think I could spend a few decades trying to decipher Ford's system and still just end up scratching my head.

I just called Ford Customer service. Gave me the rail car number and train company. After that I looked in the tracking section on here and found a list of rail companies to call. Two of them came up as couldn't find the car in their system. One got kinda snotty and informed me that only Ford could track the car because they are the customer. The last one (csx I think, I'd have to look again) actually told me the info. when I entered it (voice prompt). Ferromex was who Ford said it was through but couldn't figure out how to track on their website.

Ford gave me the car number and said it was with Ferromex. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to track stuff from their website. So I went off the list in the pinned thread on the tracking forum titled "comprehensive tracking info." Or something like that. BNSF didn't show it as a valid car number. Norfolk Southern told me that only Ford could track it since they are the customer. Seemed a little miffed that I even had a car number. Union Pacific didn't show it as a valid car number. CSX gave me the info. on their automated phone line about it being dropped at the factory, showed empty, no ETA available.

My question is, maybe they dropped it there and that's the end of their involvement since Ford said Ferromex is the company. Perhaps once it crosses the border I'll have to go through the process of elimination again. According to my dealer it will be dropped off in Salt Lake City, UT then trucked 5 hours up to my area.

Either way, it's kinda fun trying to find stuff out. Like playing Clue, but more expensive.

Yes and thanks you probably saved me a lot of time when I start to track mine. Hopefully Ferromex will show who they hand it off to. It would make things a lot easier.

I'm hoping the same thing. If not, I'll burn some more time making phone calls.

Ferromex ships all the cars to Nogales, Az. From there they get on another train and head east or west. The railcar number given should still be good. The number I gave in the thread (CSX) will track the car no matter the shipper (CSX, UP), If the car hasn’t moved, you won’t have an update. But you shouldn’t be talking to actual people, they don’t like that. I mean, if you’ve read in previous forum threads, this is a privilege to track the cars, so try not to bother people at the rail company. Just keep calling the automated CSX number. It’s possible your car is at Nogales waiting to move. But that CSX number is the one to call. It tracks the railcars no matter what train company you are on.

Good to know. I just called the numbers listed in that tracking thread. I was surprised when Norfolk Southern had an actual person pick up instead of an automated system. Hell I'd prefer a website tracker over making a phone call but it is what it is.

Like Suzy said above the CSX number still tracks it even though it's been handed off to Union Pacific. It arrived in Tuscon at 4:30 p.m. on 1/14. Hasn't moved since. Saw in another thread where someone else's left on what must have been on the same train and is also sitting in AZ. Going off of their screen name it looks like theirs is headed to MA so Tuscon must be a big yard where the train from Mexico gets broken up and sent in different directions. Figured it'll probably take a few days for trains to get built to multiple locations before heading out. Looking at a U.P. map of their tracks it looks like Tuscon is the point that they split to head either East or West. Mine will likely head to Southern California before heading up through Vegas and being offloaded in Salt Lake. Because I'm a Nerd and I like trying to figure things out, before it was sidelined it moved at approximately 4 mph. including stops. So if it starts moving again and doesn't get sidelined, it should take about 11 days to reach Salt Lake. So it needs to start moving again without multiple day stops by Thursday to next Wednesday to arrive during my delivery estimate. Yes, I'm weird but I like trying to figure things out and betting with myself if I'm correct.

I'll quote ya to let ya know when mine starts moving. I'll bet since you're East of me though we will split at Tuscon. Let me know if you hear anything on yours. Especially since your delivery estimate was a week before mine if I remember correctly. Interesting tracking this stuff.

Hearing that one heading to MA is there also I guess tomorrow I'll make the call to that CS number and get a rail car number. Thanks for the info.
