Never quite understood the fascination with this useless accessory. Now this:

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport models over an issue with a hood scoop sold as an official Ford accessory.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the hood scoop may detach from the hood.

The hazards: a hood scoop that detaches while driving can damage the windshield or become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition

Ford should make new hoods with the scoop as part of the build but add in the bigger turbo option. Seems like throwing $$$ but hey you want a scoop, there you go. Pay when you go out :)

Hood scoops may fly off like fender flares.

I’m laughing because I had the hood scoop on my BB, BL, and OBX Sports that I sold but I did not put it on my HLE. :like::giggle:

This just in: Silly fake hood scoop that is held onto the hood of the car with a couple strips of tape cannot take turbulence from air moving into it at 70mph with no exit and flies off.

In other news, water is wet, fire is hot, and politicians lie. Film at 11.

I lost one of my window deflectors a while back. Now I have 3 spares. Sticky tape is pretty good but not perfect.

Mine was loosening up on one side so I simply installed a few self tapping sheet metal screws right through the scoop and hood. Seems to hold well now and I am contemplating doing the same to the other side so it matches. I may cut an actual hole in the hood too so the scoop is for reals.

Well, at least according to the posted Ford newsletter, only 1209 folks (their estimate) went with this item.

Was about to say "hard pass" on any accessory held on by 3M automotive tape only, then remembered the hood deflector staring at me like Michael Myers day after day. Just waiting for its chance.
