Unfortunately, only your dealer and Ford probably know what happened for sure. It does sound suspicious, especially if the order was entered correctly (you said you have a printout of the order confirmation) and then two items that have been known to delay orders have mysteriously disappeared from your build. I'd hope that if a change was made to your order after you placed it but before it went into production, that there would be some sort of audit trail to indicate exactly how that happened. Now whether or not anyone would ever share that information with you is another story. Sorry to hear this happened to you, hopefully you can get it sorted out. If it can't be explained by your dealer, I'd reach out to Ford and let them know, maybe someone there could look into it for you. Perhaps offer to send them a copy of your initial order confirmation and see if they can determine if/how the order was changed.

I wonder if this has to do with the recent post about unknown packages/options being omitted due to constraints.

I think it was a Granger Ford post, if I’m not mistaken.

It is sad these things happens…. There appeared to be only three outcome

1. They order another one with your spec and Ford helped to put into the next cycle of scheduling. Somebody’s order may be bumped….
2. You take what they ordered
3. You don’t take the order.

Other than #1, the customers are always in the lose/lose situation. Even with #1 you are losing time and schedule.

We are at the mercy of the dealership.

This is kind of BS! If there r more of these, we need to have class action lawsuit

Thanks for all the input. I'm still waiting to hear back on the hail mary attempt to modify the order that I think has nearly 0 chance of succeeding, and I will update what I hear. Once that inevitably fails, any thoughts on the best path forward? There's obviously two bad options: take it as-is or reorder from scratch and wait 5-6 more months and probably bleed into MY23. I'm trying to figure out the best way to pressure middle options. Some of the ideas I'm bouncing around.

  1. See if they can reorder but at max priority so that maybe I'm only waiting an additional month to start production instead of going to the back of the line. Throw in some mild sweetener for my trouble and call it a day because I could handle a small delay like that.
  2. Try to get them to agree to order a new one and come to some sort of arrangement where I buy/lease the mistake one for the interim 5ish months and they trade them with me at an agreed-upon exchange (should be possible for them to come out fine from this given that the AZ price I'm paying is well below true market value).
  3. Maaaaaybe they have something in transit that matches perfectly and can swap them.

#3 would be cleanest but seems super unlikely. Anyone have any guesses whether #1 or #2 are even possible? Trying to figure out what buttons to push once they inevitably tell me they can't modify the order.

Ford may have given the dealer a heads up option commodity constraints and dealer gave ok to remove options in order to get it built. If that is the case Ford will not do anything to expedite a new order. There was another post on here not long ago where buyer knew options were listed on tracker and later removed. So its happened before cause dealers know what ever makes it to the lot is cash in the bank they do not care.

The dealer may have an existing dealer stock order already in the queue but not far enough along where things like color and some options can still be changed.

Usually if they have an incoming unit its listed on their web site even if its not built and in a lot of cases won't be built for weeks/months. Most Special Orders not listed on web sites and some times buyers back out it happens.

I think if you bought the one with missing options you could prob trade it in later for what you paid assuming you get it at good price and assuming used car market conditions remain favorable.

Anyway sorry the options are missing on your order its hard enough to wait and then have that happen.

For the similar issue that I am having as you, I am going route #2. My dealer put in another order but they said there's no guarantee that it will be a MY22 so I could be waiting from 4 months to a year. They've agreed to max out my trade-on on my current vehicle and will do the same in the future when my custom order arrives and I trade in the "mixed up" bronco sport that I am settling for in the interim.

I would have your dealer put in the work to find one from another dealer with your spec or close to .. i would not wait again.. or start calling everywhere in 500 mile radius every day and check

Just to update and give some semblance of "resolution" even though this isn't really done. First off, as expected nothing can be changed on the order.

For the similar issue that I am having as you, I am going route #2. My dealer put in another order but they said there's no guarantee that it will be a MY22 so I could be waiting from 4 months to a year. So this is more or less what was offered to me. My dealer told me we'll stick with this one, and when MY23 orders come open, we'll put one in to the specs we originally ordered, and when *that* comes in they'll exchange them at no additional cost to us. I'm guessing this is financially viable because I bought at AZ pricing which is well below what lightly used Bronco Sports are selling for at the moment, so breaking even or even turning a profit is probably entirely possible for them.

I get the frustration but lawsuits over an ordering error seems a bit extreme. Crap happens. As a consumer you have a choice to either ask for assistance or find a superior product. Yes as long as these take to build it should be right...but...life doesn't work that way.
Option 1 is plausible. Option 2 is more likely. Or find the same build on a local order bank/lot.

That actually sounds like a pretty fair resolution to me, I'd make sure to get that in writing though just to be safe as the pricing is likely to change again.

Yeah get it in writing in person and signed. The one thing you have going for you is the car shortage isn't going anywhere which means use cars prices likely to remain high which makes this feasible for the dealer to offer that option. And who knows '23 might have a new color or something that is more appealing. In the end you get a newer model year that is a plus.

I hope you get this worked out. Regardless of the debate on the Ford Assist+ option here, I recommend you do NOT give up on getting a Bronco Sport with Assist+. If you had adaptive cruise before this is especially true. The lane centering feature is also is amazing.
We have a 2021 Explorer with the 360+. All of the extra safety equipment works amazingly well. Can't wait for our 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands to get built!

I just caught this thread. The same thing happened to me. I ordered on 3/31/22 and sent an email to the salesman at my Ford dealer to confirm what I'd ordered. And the salesman replied that what I listed as selected was what he'd ordered. When I finally got the tracker to work using the Ford Canada accesss, I noticed that the carbon roof was not selected--I was gettting black. The dealer tried to lay-it-off to Ford, claiming some sort of "commodity restriction", and asserted that Ford just did that on their own. My BS detector went off. It was too late to do anything about it, and if I reordered, I'd lose price protection. I wonder why Ford doesn't send the order number and option selection to the customer as a confirmation? That should be easy to do and it'd would allow for adusting the order when it could still be done.
