I am not sure if this is a bronco, google maps, or apple problem but here is my issue. I was headed somewhere I had never been before so I was using google maps to get there. I was listening to the radio while the screen was on google maps. Typically the maps voice will overwrite the radio. However, this time, as a direction was given the radio volume went very low, but I couldn’t hear any google maps directions. I have used it this way before on several trips and it worked fine. The volume on the bronco and phone were both turned up. The volume setting on maps said to use the vehicle controls. Any ideas?

When I'm on google maps I get no sound at all, so tagging for interest.
👍🏻 A bit of added info, I am enrolled in automatic updates on all 3 devices. Bronco, Apple, and Google maps.

I could be wrong, but to raise the guidance volume, I think you have to adjust the volume as the guidance is being given. So, if you're hearing the radio cut out but not hearing directions, I think that's the exact time you need to raise the volume. I believe the radio and guidance volume are controlled separately but both use the regular volume knob. That said, I might be confused and thinking of another system I've used.

I’ll give it a try the next time I use the system. I am wondering how it got turned down though.

I've done it by accident. For example, I'm about to pull into my destination and I just want to turn down the radio, but at that moment, the nav is telling me I've arrived. Next thing I know, my map volume is way down when I just wanted to turn down the radio. Hopefully, it's a simple fix for you.

This worked for me.

My wife uses her smartphone for Google maps when we go somewhere where we need directions to & there is no problem with the volume.

Yes, there are separate volume levels for radio, guidance and phone calls. You can only adjust any one while it is paying. So to increase Google maps, you need to turn the knob while it's actually saying the next direction. You'll see a different level indicator.

Ok, when in transit, and you got the radio on and navigation to a destination on when you believe that you've got a navigation going to give you a command like in the next exit coming up, press the radio vol off, wait for her command voice and as she is talking turn the same volume button up to increase her voice, you will also notice a menu pop up indicating that the navigation volume is active. Play with it like we did, it works.

We had this happen while traveling, sucks and we could not fix it right away. My wife found that if you click on the right side of the map screen, in the middle while the navigation is running, it brings up a volume control icons just for the map. There’s a mute/unmute and a plus/minus for the volume.

same you gave to turn up while talking and you have to be quick as the talking may stop fast. I set to 10 on volume so I can hear above noses and people talking in car🤪 loudly

As people said, there is a separate volume control for route guidance that only changes when you change volume during a direction. I think you can also get to it in the settings.

There is also another option on Google maps. You can set the alert level so it just shows directions, reads directions or gives road alerts. It's on the map screen on the carplay screen. If you don't have voice guidance on, the volume won't do anything.

If this is what it is, and I am not doubting you guys, it is just odd that after using google maps, in my vehicles, for about 10 years or so, I have never experienced it before. Lol 🤷🏻‍♂️
