Wow, 31k for a 34k car with 34k miles? You should always take a used car to independent mechanic.

My mistake … we paid 27
Well, that's a better number. It seems to me if you decide to sell it--and it sounds like your connection to this vehicle is forever tainted--you should get close to what you have in it.My mistake … we paid 27
There's really no excuse for not knowing a used vehicle's history. Dealers usually have a Carfax where you can see the maintenance done. Unsatisfactory or lack of maintenance list, I don't buy the vehicle.Look bud, I get you're stinging and nobody is trying to add salt to the wound but you've gotten some good, solid advice here. Stand down with the aggression.
You don't know the way the previous owner maintained the vehicle. You're probably best off assuming they didn't and being prepared to fork over some money to catch back up on it.
And 20K miles in 5 months is a TON of mileage.
That sort of usage is going to make things go down hill faster than expected. Cars do have a specific life expectancy- the average American does about 15K or so per year pre-pandemic. I personally drive about 20K annually. You did my annual mileage in under half a year!
It’s at the dealership we purchased it at. They gave us an F150 loaner and said it would be 2 weeks.Well, that's a better number. It seems to me if you decide to sell it--and it sounds like your connection to this vehicle is forever tainted--you should get close to what you have in it.
Whatever you do, don't accept the $1400 repair bill without getting a second opinion. They've already told you the repair will not be covered under warranty, so there's no need to take it to a Ford dealership. Check around your local area for a reputable independent repair shop and take your car there. Most independent repair shops either do not charge a "diagnostic fee," or they deduct it from the repair bill if you decide to have them do the work.
If there’s any way to go to a small independent mechanic I’d do it. My local Ford dealership is a joke. Every little thing I’ve ever gone there for is magically $1100, even a brake job. I just laugh at them. I paid $400 for at a small garage. It’ll be with the tow!I just got a call back from our dealership. They said it’s not the fuel injectors it’s a bad alternator and that it’s $ 1400 to replace, not covered under our warranty plus I will have to pay for the 200 diagnostics.
we just purchased this vehicle 4 months ago.
I am livid! And I don’t have 13 dollars I don’t know what the heck I’m gonna do.
This is bullshit.
I don’t believe you can purchase Ford Protect (formerly ESP) after the original warranty period has passed. If I keep this BS which is kind of doubtful, I will definitely buy an online discounted Ford ESP.
I know. I have 2 3/4 years to decide if I keep it that long. Mileage won't be an issue at around 5k per.I don’t believe you can purchase Ford Protect (formerly ESP) after the original warranty period has passed.
My apology. I believe the OP suggested she was going to consider purchasing ESP and she’s already out of warranty. I must have accidentally replied to your comment.I know. I have 2 3/4 years to decide if I keep it that long. Mileage won't be an issue at around 5k per.
I had a brand new 22 Bronco Sport and had a full transmission replacement after barely having it for 6 months. A few months later I had another noise that sounded like fluttering under the starting column. I called big Ford and they set me up with an agent who then processed my case and sent it to a Lemon Lawyer. Long story short, Ford bought my vehicle back and I got everything I put into it I.e. every payment I made, down payment, extended warranty purchase. I’d say try it it’s worth a shot! Worst case They tell you no. My process went fairly quick too. They said it’s not covered. We have 54k on it. Purchased it with 34k and within 2 weeks need new tires, had
To replace battery, recall work, now alternator. And nothing has been covered. This vehicle is a lemon.
