I just got a call back from our dealership. They said it’s not the fuel injectors it’s a bad alternator and that it’s $ 1400 to replace, not covered under our warranty plus I will have to pay for the 200 diagnostics.
we just purchased this vehicle 4 months ago.
I am livid! And I don’t have 13 dollars I don’t know what the heck I’m gonna do.
This is bullshit.

It's a shit situation for sure. Diag fees are a joke in most cases. To diagnose a battery/alternator issue it's usually no more than hooking up a meter to see if the thing is charging or not. I would request detailed documentation on what exactly they found. Try to talk to the service manager, see if there is anything they can do. A new Motorcraft alternator is only around $400 for just the part, dealership labor these days is boarding insanity. Next time find an independent shop if it's not drivetrain related or when your warranty is fully expired. Maybe look into getting an extended service agreement.

If I keep this BS which is kind of doubtful, I will definitely buy an online discounted Ford ESP.

They said it’s not covered. We have 54k on it. Purchased it with 34k and within 2 weeks need new tires, had
To replace battery, recall work, now alternator. And nothing has been covered. This vehicle is a lemon.

Hindsight is 20/20 but there's a risk when buying a relatively high mileage used car. If it needed new tires within two weeks after you bought it, the tires were already worn out when you bought it. Also needed a bumper to bumper inspection by a reliable mechanic other than the dealership or person you bought it from. Sorry you're having all these difficulties.

They said they did the inspection and that the tires passed. It sucks. I didn’t know better. They sold us a lemon.
I am looking into an attorney.
The alternator going on a 2 year vehicle that has been maintained is bullshit. I am NOT paying for it!

An attorney won't help and may cost you more money than the repair. Is your BS certified?

Sounds like you need to escalate this with the selling dealer and see if they will do anything for you.

Check your lemon laws in your particular state. Usually lemons law only kicks in when the vehicle was purchased new and is within the first 12 month and 12k miles of ownership. Used vehicles are ineligible.

Worn tires, a bad battery, and a bad alternator is just crummy luck unfortunately.

Familiar with this. No me but a teammate. We were playing softball in Chattanooga when a teammate's Acura wouldn't move. He had it towed to a dealer. Diagnostic was $180 and a new alternator was $900.
I hope you get some relief!

Worn tires should have been discussed at
purchase. The battery is 3 years old, Possibly a change time in a BS. The alternator... that sucks.

Tires and batteries are wear items, so no warranty coverage on a used vehicle. In another post you said you purchased the car four months ago. In this post you say it had 34K and now has 54K. So 20K miles in four months?

I would not agree to a $1400 repair without a second opinion. If you have a multimeter testing the alternator is trivial. You test across the battery terminals with the engine running; if it reads 14 VDC or more there's nothing wrong with the alternator.

This is the tradeoff with purchasing a used car. Yes, they often cost far less than a new car, but you are on the hook for any required maintenance.
