I sort of liked the deep throaty sound in Sport Sound. Too bad it was coming through the speakers and not the pipes.
I was wondering how they managed to change the sound between modes.

Like paddle shifters, a bit juvenile and appealing to the boy-racer gamer genre.

My GMC Sierra pickup sound system creates noise to cancel out the bad exhaust noises from the engine when it deactivates cylinders from 8 to 4. I guess this is just the next step.

I understand the new mustang e will make V8 noises in some of the drive modes.

I can understand the active noise cancelling, but fake V8 sounds are a bit much. I recall reading that some of the CVT-equipped vehicles are adding fake "shift points" to ease the weirdness of CVT transmissions.

Maybe we'll get custom sounds with each GOAT mode. Maybe one will sound like a goat, or perhaps a Sherpa?

It's not that new. My VW has done that for a while.

The sport mode sounds more like a subaru boxer engine to me than a V8.
Ok, after watching the video I suppose it could be entertaining for a moment, says my inner child.

I once had a motorcycle with a high-revving I-4 that I put LeoVince exhaust on. That Italian pipe sounded great, especially at 10,000+ RPMs. Problem was, 10K+ RPMs equated to triple-digit speed in any but the lowest few gears. So yeah, I get the exhaust sound thing, it is weird they're faking it these days.

It slightly annoys me only because I don't feel like it resembles the natural engine note at all. I don't hate the concept of piped in engine noise through the speakers entirely.

That would be make the whole crazy thing worthwhile.

My mustang used to do that. I had the Ford intake and tune installed and now I don’t hear the fake noise. I suspect part of the tune may of been to turn off the annoying fake noise.

So I assume there's no way to disable this(?)

now we have engine noises to gauge speed auditoraly instead of just the traditional visual speedometer
Enlighten me on how I can gauge my speed with fake V8 sounds piped through the sound system instead of the speedometer. The sounds are merely for entertainment. That's fine, but they should have enabled a defeat option.

I’m pulling a fuse to defeat the faux V-8 noises. The same reason I’m driving with a live band in the rear seats and not playing anything on the radio with sounds created on a computer.

Add it to the list of disappointments... no garage door opener, no automatic lift gate, now we have engine noises to gauge speed auditoraly instead of just the traditional visual speedometer, when we could have hosted a mobile library book club. Not to mention a computer ? shifting gears. Don’t even get me started on the thought of manually shifting a gear using a paddle ?
Sounds like you need a '72 Bronc. I need one too.
