Per this article the Ecoboost motors are just fine. The 1.5l 3cyl has few issues. The 2.0l has had a few but it’s been out for some time. So teething issues should be less. I had a Compass Trailhawk and traded for a big bend. The motor and tranny is much nicer in the Ford. It gets up and goes...
We purchased a Big Bend with the 1.5l motor. It runs well and has plenty of power for most people. Put it in sport mode and just drive it. We had the Compass Trailhawk with the 2.4L and it was not as quick. The performance of the drivetrain in the compass was uninspired. Driving the 1.5 is not a...
My mustang used to do that. I had the Ford intake and tune installed and now I don’t hear the fake noise. I suspect part of the tune may of been to turn off the annoying fake noise.
Actually the 1.5 is both port and direct injected. My 2.3 in my mustang is as well. The 2.0 is not but it is a solid engine. Talking to one of my local dealers the 2.7 is one of the motors in service a lot. I have heard it is a problem.
We went from the 2.4 in the compass to the 1.5 in the BS. The 1.5 is much quicker. A lot of this is the gearing. Put the 1.5 in sport mode and give it some gas. It does not hesitate. The Jeep felt like rubber bands were winding up before it would go. The 1.5 seems plenty good. The 2.0 is a great...
We went from a Trailhawk compass to a dealer lifted/level kit BS. The motor and trans is way better then the Trailhawk. The BS handles better in the twisties. I love the twisties and live in the back country. The Trailhawk feels anemic in comparison. We have more room in the BS then the Jeep...
My wife and I bought a Big Bend in Black. The dealer installed the level kit and wheels and tires. We are impressed with the 1.5 motor. We thought it might not be enough. We had a Jeep Compass Trailhawk and the 2.4l w/9spd feels far slower. We love this new Black Beauty.
