I'm going to be taking delivery of my 2024 Badlands, soon. I am going to add the Falken Wildpeak tires in 235/65/17. I would like to be sure they are just RIGHT to the edge of the fenders. Do I need spacers to make that happen - front and rear? If so, what do you suggest - size and vendor? They can JUST stand outside of the well, but I don't like it to be much more than that. Thoughts and THANKS!

I have a 22 Badlands with the optional 235 Falkens. They line up perfectly (exactly) with the edge of the fenders. No spacers required.

Ford offers the 235/65/17 as an option when you buy the vehicle, it's only when you go to a 245/65/17 that you need to add spacers to avoid a slight rub.

As for the size you will want, it is best to have the tires on and then measure to the edge. Then, decide where you want them to lineup.

I have 25mm all-around and I have used Titan on several vehicles (they are currently on my Miata too). I have always been very happy with the company and their quality.

And you can read and research as you like as this is only my opinion on what I have read, 15mm to 30mm is best for the Sport, especially if doing off-roading.

There are issues with a spacer that is less than 20mm. Those spacers are literally just a piece of metal that fits between the hub and the wheel. That means you really need to replace the stock lugs with longer lugs to compensate.

At 20mm and more, the spacers come with studs pressed into them. You use the stock studs, usually with provided small lugs, to hold the spacer to the hub. The wheel is then attached to the studs pressed into the spacer. The thing to watch for is whether there is room for the stock studs to stick into cavities on the back of the wheel or if you might have to trim them down.

All brands have this issue less that 15mm and you are correct that some do at 15mm, but Titan does not. The 15mm is with studs just like the 20, 25, 30. But, not to disagree with you too much, the 20 to 30 would be my recommendation over the 15 for the Sport.

But, not too get too far off, but this is not true on all vehicles. Since I take my Miata on the track, 15mm is perfect for the stabilization I desired and since they're Titans, they do not have the problems you described above.

edit: also to further agree with @Meanderthal , at over 30mm you will be trimming studs, and I’d highly recommended NOT doing that.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I was asking about the spacers because I wanted to get the tires flush with the fenders. But, if the 235/65/17 tires accomplish that, they won't be needed. I did not order that package, though. I have planned to remove the tires that came with it, sell them, and buy the Falken WildPeak's. I'm hoping those will accomplish what I am looking for; but, if not, I was then going to add a small spacer....

There have been some unfavorable reviews of the new WildPeak tires. You might want to research more before pulling the trigger on those.

Thicker spacers are less likely to require trimming the stock studs.

Interesting that Titan offers a 15mm spacer with studs pressed in. Not that I am an expert in spacers, but in my search for spacers it seemed that 20mm was the thinnest that was offered with pressed in studs.

Do you have a link to where you read this? I'd like to read up...

I posted those links and got a different impression watching them

While I like owners reports of their experience with the OE Falkens and I plan to buy the OE Falkens if the Memorial Day sale is good, the main issue I saw was the weight of the new AT4w in same 235 65R17 size. The weight delta doesn’t seem to bother at least some other owners. Snow driving isn’t a main concern for me.

Of course it’s up to the buyer to decide which tire meets their needs. ?

I was a bit surprised to see they were 8-9lbs heavier than the 3's. Fortunately, I called the retailer I would use and they can still get the 3's. I think I will go that route...

You may want to check the date code stamped on the tires before they get installed
