Well you already have an AGM Battery right?

Because other owners with the non chinese EFB got the new AGM Battery per how the recall was stated
I had the efb or regular lead battery idk the difference originally, and had them replace with an agm last week than saw on here I could potentially have qualified for the recall lol

Owners stated the recall procedure said .. if vehicle has an EFB then replace with AGM but I didn’t try to find the actual procedure documentation since my 2022 EFB failed within the 3 yr 36 mo warranty so was replaced with an AGM Battery

Perhaps was too late for you because you already had the AGM and now the dealership needs a qualifying VIN to reimburse you for your out of pocket

So if I’m understanding correctly, forgive me if not, by paying for the new agm to be installed, replacing the regular battery, my vin now doesn’t pull up under this recall. but had I inquired pre install, it could have qualified?

I’m probably “beating a dead horse”, but here it is:
EFB failed post 3/36 warranty on my ’21 BS, and was replaced by dealer with AGM. I paid for the new battery, then the recall was announced.
Dealer said they would attempt to get me reimbursed after batteries were available and the recall was being performed.
Well after the recalls started be done I, again, approached dealer for reimbursement and was told I needed to contact Ford Customer Service. Ford said best way to get reimbursed was through dealer. Went to Service Manager and he immediately processed a reimbursement form and I had a check within (2) weeks.
No one ever checked my VIN or what kind of EFB was replaced. Other than a little “run around” it was a painless experience.

I don’t understand why you didn’t qualify. Mines a 2022 that is 6 months beyond warrenty. There were no questions asked. Maybe call Ford again.

No that’s not what i meant … you stated you did not get the recall which is because your VIN disqualified your vehicle from the recall

Because you stated your vehicle came with an EFB (Battery), that battery was not subject to the recall. According to what I read, it’s a specific EFB made in China which apparently your vehicle did not have that chinese made EFB Battery. Does that make sense?

You installing an AGM Battery had nothing to do with the recall

What other owners stated, the dealership simply looked at the installed battery, if it was an EFB, it was replaced with the AGM Battery.

Owners stated the recall procedure said .. if vehicle has an EFB then replace with AGM but I didn’t try to find the actual procedure documentation to see what it said so I don’t know that’s a true statement or not.

Just left dealership. As all recalls are, it’s vin specific and my vehicle did not qualify. 🤷🏻‍♂️ kind of what I expected but it was worth a shot. I drive a 2022 so I thought my chances were pretty high that it would lol
i have a 2024, battery kept going into power saver and the auto stop wasnt ever active, dealership said there was a service bulletin, ran testing which said it was fine,.gave it a charge. i had other work to be done a week later and they had overnight so they left on long term charge which showed it wouldn't go to full charge so they replaced with agm.

Dang it my experience was very much not that haha. I’m a bit of a pushover cause I am not good at interacting with people so I just simply stated “I replaced my original battery with an agm last week and just discovered there was a recall, ford said if I’m looking for reimbursement to come to you guys directly.” “Okay what’s your phone number?…yeah your vehicle wasn’t effected by that recall based off your vin”. “Okay thank you”

Yeah for sure I wouldn’t use that approach hehe but that’s just me … you handled it honestly but dang it you should have been reimbursed based on many other similar cases by other owners (and not saying I’m not honest but batteries are junk these days, AGM included)
