So with about 15K on my tires, I got a flat that can't be patched. How sensitive is the BS (Base) rear differential? The old tires are in good condition, but of course a new tire will have a tad more tread. Should I go ahead and replace all four?

The system will sense a speed difference large enough to be an issue and disable 4WD. It will also display a message on the dash. If that happens I would just buy another tire for the same axle instead of four more.

Good spot for a reminder to rotate tires regularly to encourage even tire wear.
I just got mine back from the dealer. The did The Works which includes tire rotation. Cost was $93 but was no charge because I used up some Ford Points.

@Mr. Ploppy with only 15k on the truck, I would imagine not much tread is worn. However, if you are worried about a difference in tread depth, this gives you an opportunity to upgrade your factory tires to something you really want. :like:

A search gives 2/32" as allowed difference.

A cursory search using your thread title will give you that information. Generally 3/32 is the accepted point where the difference is too great. There are used tire sellers as well if you really want more miles out of the other three.

So I can't say for this vehicle but I had a 05 Acura MDX with the VTM 4 system and I was super poor back then and I was buying $30 used tires and they were all different tread depths same size but they were different types tires different brands, different tread depths and it never caused an issue and that system is pretty similar to what's on our badlands.

But you sound like you're really concerned about it. So I would say if you can afford it do what you want to do and change all four so even without what happens to your car you feel better mentally cuz stress is real and causes issues, but in my opinion and experience with the Acura I wouldn't worry about it and I know on mine I would not buy all four new tires if I had to just replace one.

Does anyone have a broncosport that has changed just one tire and had it cause issues and which trim if so and details on what happened please.

But Badlands with factory 235 tires come with a 225 sized spare? Limits on how long smaller spare can be used?

its an independent rear suspension. I wouldn't sweat it. If you are so concerned try and find used with similar tread depth or just buy 2 tires.

@Mr. Ploppy another thing to consider, Discount Tire will give trade in credit on your old tires if they are resalable. That way your not just throwing away good tires. The value of trade is left up to the discretion of the store manager. Don't hesitate to reach out in a DM if we can be of assistance. :like:

2/32 sounds about right to me. A good, trustworthy tire shop will know and be able to check for you to see if you need to buy 4 tires.

I’ve been driving AWD vehicles for a long time and I always buy 5 tires and rotate the spare in at tire rotations. Totally worth it to avoid buying 4 tires if 1 gets destroyed.

Hope It works out ok for you!

Buying 4 tires at today's prices is a budget buster. I never rotate tires, so the front tires wear out faster. I put the old tires on the back and the new tires on the front. If you've ever had a front wheel blowout at 75 mph, you'll know why. It will yank you out of your lane, and perhaps roll you if you're one of those people who talk with their hands while driving.
