I wouldn't do it, too many places to trap the cloths.
Even a touchless might hit the extended bars.

IMHO, the risk vs reward is just too great.

So what are people doing with the racks? Taking them off every time or just washing by hand?

I'll never take my Sport through a car wash with brushes (rack or no rack) due to the damage they can cause to the paint. It's a brush-less or hand wash for me.

Do not go through a brush car wash even if you don't have a rack. It will ruin your finish.

I use a touchless car wash all the time with my Yakima rack. Have for years on all my cars with no problems. I currently have a Yakima with 66" bars.
If you love your car you'll give it a hand job once in a while anyway.

It's not legal in most state for bars to stick out beyond the mirrors so no, a touchless won't hit them.

I was thinking of one I used a few years back that used lasers to measure how far away the nozzles were from the vehicle. You drove into a wide bay and there was no track or wheel stop so you could be left/right/front/back of center by a couple of feet. The wash arms spun in fast circles close to the car. They articulated in many angles to stay close to the car. They were similar to the way a "surface cleaner" for a pressure washer works.
