I had two of the Graco's in mine for my twin granddaughters. Not much room for anything else back there. I finally moved them to my wife's Hyndai because I tend to us my car like a truck (with the back seats down). It was a pain to take them in and out of the car. We just leave them in my wife's car.
I'm pretty sure that you need to replace the seatbelts in your car at the same time you replace the car seat. I think it is a tactic to get protective parents and grandparents to buy new instead of used.
They are all basically a pita to put in and get tight. Typically takes a knee in the seat while pulling the attaching belt. The good news is the cars these days are all set for them. Hooks and access for the clips and hooks for the the tethers. From a grandparents point of view, you’ll probably end up with two anyways so get one that converts from a baby to a toddler then get another later that converts from a toddler to a booster. I’ve got 9 grandkids so I’ve done this a time or two.
Hi all, wanted to update this with what we got and how its going.
After much delibriation we went with the Graco SlimFit3 LX. It was one of the smallest, width wise, and had great reviews. I'm happy to report its working out well and we definitely got back a little space for the passenger up front's legroom. Installed easily and baby seems to like it a lot more than her Chico Keyfit 30.
Thanks for everyone's input. Hope this thread can be of use to other parents.
