Thats less than I had to wait. But it is worth itMy order for a 2021 Broco Sport Badlands was submitted and accepted by Ford on March24. Initial build date was week of 5/31; subsequently changed to week of 6/4. When I check the tracking on my order it shows in production 6/4 but nothing else. There is an estimated delivery date of 10/31!!!! Is this for real?? I am aware of the chip shortage; but does it really take seven months to get a vehicle??
I think so,sadly. Ordered Bl/BL mid February. Various build dates proposed. Confirm of build early this month (June) with a projected delivery date of July 15...My order for a 2021 Broco Sport Badlands was submitted and accepted by Ford on March24. I’m not so sure - ordered BL+BL in January- built 6/8 and tracking says est delivery 7/9 but suddenly changed to 10/31 like others have mentioned. Let the dealership know and they said it was still estimated for 7/9 and they were actually getting some BS arriving earlier than scheduled ??Yes, unfortunately your timeline seems pretty standard.
I have yet to get my BB built. I will worry about delivery date AFTER it is built.Has anyone who ordered BB gotten the 10/31 date?
The number one thing in customer satisfaction is setting an expectation and meeting or exceeding that expectation. Ford has done and continues to do the exact opposite. This is totally under their control.I'm just going to be the person to say this yes we all know there is a chip shortage EVERYWHERE. Fords not the only company having problems, car companies are not the only ones being affected by this. PCs, desktops, refrigeration units, heater units, phones, any device that needs a chip is struggling. This is the reality that everyone knew from the start so it's to be expected that there will be delays.
Look how Ford is treating its F150 customers in the article below. Trucks with 10/31 dates are sitting while Ford builds/ships new trucks afterwards. So Ford gives new trucks priority over the ones that are sitting waiting:The number one thing in customer satisfaction is setting an expectation and meeting or exceeding that expectation. Do we really believe that for all of it's resources Ford could not project from early this year whether or not they could deliver tens of thousands of vehicles on time? Even so they kept taking orders, kept building and storing incomplete vehicles all the while willfully setting unreal expectations with their customers. Did they keep advertising vehicles that they new they could not deliver? They could not even be found on dealer lots let be built to order. Of course the alternative was to say "we have nothing to buy, either wait for nearly a year and possibly more or look elsewhere." Now they do damage control by pleading that it wasn't their fault, but it was.
American automakers also set themselves up for this by pushing the globalization of the industry. As did virtually every industry. It's a lesson I hope America learns and understands. If the shortages of medical equipment and threats to the supply of medicine itself during the pandemic can't make America learn this lesson then nothing will.
Also a lot easier to build new vehicles and go through the normal build/test/ship procedure then try to install missing parts on already built vehicles. I know in 2017 when Ford let the 10 speed F150s sit due to trans issues a lot of those trucks showed up scratched, bolts missing, not assembled correctly etc. Ford hired various contractors to "fix" the trucks that did not come off the line suitable for shipping. So for the ppl whose order gets put in the yard get ready because we are probably going to see Ford build/ship new units while those waiting for parts sit and wait.Assuming that is true, the answer is easy. Ordered vehicles are considered "money in the bank". The belief is that people will keep waiting for their order so they can bypass the orders and sell to new customers.
FWIW, my salesman told me just yesterday that only the ordered vehicles are being built. Their dealership is not getting any new "stock".
And if ppl cancel special order Ford does not care they have about 100 customers waiting to buy each vehicle they can deliver. Bid them up over MSRP cash cows.Assuming that is true, the answer is easy. Ordered vehicles are considered "money in the bank". The belief is that people will keep waiting for their order so they can bypass the orders and sell to new customers.
