Meteorological seasons start on Dec 1st, March 1st, June 1st and September 1st.

Astronomical seasons start on winter solstice, spring equinox, summer solstice and fall equinox.

Personally, I go with the weather, rather than the stars, because that's what I feel! However, the weather varies a lot from year to year so that any fixed dates are nonsensical except for statistical purposes and to provide stories for the media!

My daughter was just complaining about this yesterday! Way too many old and slows out on a Saturday now. Of course I used to say the day when I was down visiting in Kerrville TX during the winter. Doesn’t anybody work down here!
