Has anyone else noticed this on their brake rotor? It has 200 miles on it and it appears as if the driver side rear brake pad isn’t playing nice with the rotor. I’m gonna take it to the dealer obviously but I wanted to bring others attention to it.

Ford warranty will fix it, unless some super hard rock got jammed in there and you drove it in the rotor. I doubt that. That rotor is strong.

Is that wire clip rubbing on the rotor? Or something under the pad you think?

Nothing is rubbing I’m thinking the brake pad may have been a little deformed and it will correct itself. If not, then off to the dealer

Yeah, it’s actually build up on the rotor. I’m thinking it will clear itself. Just wasn’t sure if anybody else who’d had theirs longer had seen it and I wanted to bring attention to it for the good of the group.

I appreciate that but I’m not ready to throw my dealer under the bus just yet. Let them at least have a chance to do something stupid first ?

They want to work with your dealer to look into the issue, not admonish them...

Yea, but there is no sense involving anyone but the dealer until the dealer has failed to respond appropriately. I might be met with less than glowing attitudes if they hear from FoMoCo before they hear from me.

They might be looking at this as an improperly heat treated rotor or defective brake pads and want to be sure to track the resolution.

Any other pictures? Looks too good to be a rock causing it. Looks to be machined that way to me.

Most rotors are ground, that looks machined. Any noise while driving?

No noise no pulsing brakes and you can scrape it off. That’s what tells me it may just be a deformed pad that will probably correct itself with time

Thanks, looks like rotor wear. Seems like a serious issue. If it wasn’t squealing, that rotor is soft and your pads are literally machining it down.

How is it stopping? Pulling? Is the other side similar?
