BB recovery point

Ive search this forum and a few others and kind of gotten mixed ideas. So just to be clear lol. the general consensus is Using the receiver and a quality recovery Hitch (curt etc..) is safe to have someone unstick you? And questionable on kinetic rope? Or safe for both? I know the BB has no real way to add recovery point and with the tow package I can’t use the factory ring. Just don’t wanna mess anything up if I get crazy and get my self stuck.

Yes, the Hitch receiver should be a fine recovery point for your Big Bend. Bronco Sports that came with the factory hitch have a different bumper cover that doesn’t include the cutout for the threaded recovery bolt because the presumed point of recovery would be the hitch. The factory style hitch is attached very securely with bolts both in the face of the rear structure as well as the side, and your factory hitch is also the rear crash bar.

You should have no issues with kinetic rope as long as the person doing the recovery isnt a dingus about it. Always start kinetic recoveries at slow speeds and work up from there

If you use the hitch for recovery, do not attach the recovery rope or strap to the ball. People have been killed with the hitch or ball breaking off and rebounding into the recovery vehicle.

Yes that’s why I have been looking at the curt or rhino recovery hitch, I can’t use the pin because I have the tow package. I was more worried about having someone unstick me if I’m gonna damage but I’m no longer on the fence haha

I think this might be a good place to ask this question. We all should know our maximum weight for towing. What's the maximum weight (force) allowed on the OEM Class II hitch for recovery? (with a shackle hitch in place)

This is a question better asked of Ford. You're gonna get a bunch of differing opinions here, none of which will be based on engineering data. My guess is Ford will tell you not to apply any load on the hitch receiver greater than the weight of the vehicle.
