Hello everyone.

I am looking to possibly install some A-Pillar lights and/or additional front lighting as was wondering about the wiring. I would like to have the option for a switch to provide relay power to the lights, but have the option to either activate manually or not.

I want the Aux lights to primarily come on with the auto-high beams engaging as long as the switch is "On", but also be able to manually turn them on as needed without high beams also being on. So likely a couple of switches?

I assume something like a relay wired to the high-beams, but I am lost about tapping into the auto high-beams feature. I am not sure how difficult or simple this way be for a shop to do correctly.

Thanks in advance.

There are currently two major main known ways to have Aux lights on Auto High Beams.

Rhel talks about one Option here where you install a Bluetooth CANBUS relay into your OBD2 port and program it to "pair" to your high beams, however, you will not be able to turn them on without high beams or disable their high beam toggle unless you use the phone app for the device.

The other option, which I've talked about and successfully installed here utilizes a 5 pin relay that uses the fog light signal to determine when to turn on, but also uses a switch to gate the relay to keep on when I want to. In short, your fog lights are programmed to turn off when high beams turn on, so, logically, if a 5 pin relay sees that the dogs are off, and the relay is powered through your toggle switch, then your aux lights come one (which the main purpose is for their correct function with auto high beams).

You would need to do additional relay logic to have a bypass switch (you could relay your relay) but it is doable.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Might be a 5-beer job in that case! :cwl:
