I get that. But I’ve ordered parts, hitch, missing panels etc and have gotten them in 2 days. No delays at all. These are hard parts, no chips.
And baby formula is partially because the enfamil factory closed in Michigan which produces the majority for the US.

Yup, but any hiccup in the supply chain has a ripple effect. I just know that the lower panel is still on back order and I’m paying for it so it’s not like they are holding it back to save money. Much of it depends on your local distribution warehouse, if they have it, you’ll get it.

We are seeing similar issues in our business both chip related and not. Crap, I had to wait on granite for my brothers gravestone.

This is only week two with my new Badlands. Thanks to this community and this thread, I have learned of my missing items: engine cover, rear tow hook (I have no trailer hitch) and the missing under-dash panel. I’ll be discussing this with my dealer tomorrow.

So, I stopped and test drove the 2 door cyber orange bronco badlands that was taunting me on my way home every day.
After the test drive, I asked the sales guy (that I've known for 20+ years) when would it be available for sale since it's a mannequin. He went and checked... came back and said 'tomorrow' but I can sell it to you today.

......... 2021 2 door MT Badlands, 980 miles (not many people want to test drive a manual). Bunch of accessories. Just a little over msrp plus the accessories.

He gave me *nearly* what I paid for the BS (Since I bought it used and over msrp). So I came home with the 'full size' bronco.

Anyways why this is relevant, as I was waiting for them to detail the new one, he says 'Guess we can cancel the order for that panel now!' ...... Wonder if the next people to buy it will notice.
Dave, nice! Just like the one I have on order!

It's not just manufacturing. It's also shipping. A lot of shipping companies shut down operations because all the rules about crossing borders were a tangled mess. Remember all the container ships sitting in the water off the LA coast?

It's gonna take some time to get all these operations back up and running again.

I picked my Badlands up yesterday. It’s missing it as well. Although I’m not really sure the point of it.

edit: I see now it includes additional insulation. Maybe part of the premium package!

Whats even crazier is it’s missing the black roof! I’m actually happy about that. I wanted to order the gray roof but it wasn’t allowed.

So you don't have a black painted roof ¿ is gray carbonized which happens to match your veh. I really didn't want a black roof either

FWIW -- my understanding after reading a lot of posts and talking with a couple people at our dealer -- as well as at Ford -- is that the engine cover was actually discontinued -- as opposed to just being left off due supply problems. If your dealer says they can get it under warranty let us know.

If it makes you feel better, most engine covers are just cosmetic. My guess is that the mfrs did market research and found that most people like to have all of those "unsightly" wires, hoses, and sensors covered up with a huge expanse of black plastic. If the 2022 BS BL were supposed to have an engine cover I'd want one, but the first time I had to remove it to access something it would have a new home in our garage. I would hang on to it though for possible future resale.

If it was truly discontinued -- which seems to be the case -- no big deal.

The dash panel should be ordered for you under warranty. Many dealers have done that (including ours).

Since we have the tow package I have been focused on getting a shackle hitch for a rear recovery point ( a tow eye does us no good). Ford sells a decent one made by Curt (Amazon is cheaper though). The sales manager claims he's 'looking into it'.

You're saying you didn't receive a tow eye? Is that what you meant by 'tow hook'? I ask because if you are referring to hooks like the 2 on the front, they are are not made for the rear (AFAIK). Still, a tow eye will work for most recoveries. It's much better than nothing -- which is what owners with the tow package have.

Well, the parts are on back order so I do think they are constrained even without chips! People think it’s only electronics effected, but it’s almost anything. Think baby formula, no chips there but….and speaking butts, think toilet paper!

it’s like $40 on some sites so not a really deal breaker either way. I ordered one but only because of the sound insulation, not the safety factor. My kids are all grown up so there shouldn’t be any midnight monkey business going on the the front seat that could cause any damage.
Like all of you here... one more thing missing...ugh. This one bothers me more than the missing engine cover, passenger side air deflector, non-folding back seat rests and even a small missing foam attached to the back of the engine wall... but this one if I can't get my dealer to order I'll go ahead and purchase myself...

Apologies, but can you send me the part info? I think its been posted here a few times, but just wanted to confirm.. thanks in advance

The panel also provides some noise insulation for the blower. My dealer ordered mine after I told them about it, but not before they checked the others they had on the lot. Mine didn’t have recovery hook either. Took 2 days to get parts from Ford. Don’t really think these parts are in short supply, just Ford penny pinching at every corner they can and hoping people don’t notice.
Ford corporate said sorry about your luck with the missing components, you have to pay out of pocket if you want them. Even the tow hoop for the rear, which I think has to be included if there is a dedicated recovery mounting point on the vehicle. There are probably other unseen pieces not included that will pop up over time.
It makes you wonder how many other mfrs are playing this game of "eliminate parts and hope the buyers don't notice"?

Some parts (like the engine cover) were truly discontinued. No great loss (IMO).

Other parts may have been out of stock at the time of production. That's understandable. They should be supplied when they are back in stock.

What is not excusable is for a mfr (Ford in this case) to eliminate a critical part like a tow eye and not inform the buyer. They might as well eliminate the jack and not say anything.

What's the corporate thought process there?:

"Hey Bill, we can save a good $5-$6 per vehicle by eliminating the tow eye! Sure some Bronco Sports will be left in a ditch, or damaged, because the tow truck driver does not have the proper tow eye, but that will only be a small percentage of vehicles, and by the time the owner realizes the tow eye is missing they may think they misplaced it!"

"That's executive level thinking there Bob! I'm putting you in for a promotion!"

Thank you so much. Sad that "we" have to be prepared to inform a Service/Parts employee from the dealership on what they need to order, lol. Suppose I'll be using those 42000 points I was hoping to use on other services, ugh!
At the risk of being repetitious, many BS owners have had the panel replaced for free under warranty. Just FYI.

For example, posts 140 and 141 -- there are many, I just happened to see those.

Understood... but seems many have had varying degrees of success and failure.. suppose I'm a pessimist : (....

Like playing poker I suppose I could threaten to return the vehicle and stomp out of the dealership disgusted... but they'd know I'm lying and too attached to this awesome little SUV... as we all seem to be here, lol
