AC blowing only hot air - just under warranty

My AC failed the other day. I'm just under 36k miles so I brought it into the dealership. I am assuming this is covered under warranty though I didn't ask. They were kind enough to get me a rental while they work on it. I have a rear seat belt that also needs to be replaced. We are getting the mailers about purchasing an extended warranty and boy, I'm thinking I should take that seriously.

Get the Ford ESP from Granger, they sell it at cost (or maybe just a minor markup). There's a few other dealers nationwide that do the same.

I also have a Badlands. At 5,000 miles the Electric Brake Booster went bad causing a creaking noise when ever I depressed or took my foot off of the brake pedal. Cost $2,000 to replace (covered under warranty). At 6,000 miles it is in the shop for a strange noise under the engine compartment when accelerating fro a stop. Dealer confirmed another BS does the same thing so probably nothing to repair right now. I always try to keep my cars a few years. I purchased a 10 year Ford Premium Care ESP when I bought the BS. Wouldn't do without it anymore. As jkernitzki said buy from one of the online Ford dealers that sell ESP plans online. I would bet much cheaper than your selling dealer. Also make sure to take the couple of optional items like LED lighting, lost key, etc. Headlights are not just replacing a light bulb anymore and a new key fob could cost $700 through the dealer. That includes the key fob, cutting the blank key stored in the key fob and programing. I know this because I have been buying a third key fob when I have purchased my recent Fords as a service key when having service done. At least in the past you got 42,000 FordPass points which I used towards the additional key fob. At 200 pts equals $1 that is $240 towards the additional key fob. Also the plan is transferable which I have done in the past when transferring cars to my son and if you sell the car before the end of of the plan you may be entitled to a prorated rebate from the dealer that you purchased the plan from.

I had the same problem with my 21 First Edition. AC Stopped working at 20,000 miles. They replaced a faulty compressor which still didn’t fix it. They eventually evacuated the refrigerant and recharged it. Working now no more problems so far.

Florida law does not permit sales of extended warranties by companies located outside of the state. Others have gotten around this by using an address of a relative located outside of Florida.

Turns out the compressor locked up and burned out. They checked the fluid and it was good, no contamination. While they had it they replaced two seat belts that were looking to have some issues, all under warranty.

I'm definitely going to purchase the extended warranty now. We are putting about 15k miles/year on it, but the only way to get the most coverage is a 10 year plan, at least via granger. I asked my service agent if he can send me info on what they charge for service plans.

Oh and lastly, the vehicle was super dirty, not sure how that happened.... (/s)

we had a couple of days of rain and I know of a spot in the city that has a short off-roading trail. I went straight there from the dealership knowing there would be some good puddles. I guess I just missed my baby bronco!
