I'm not a fan (pun intended) of the HVAC controls on the screen. I even miss having the temperature displayed on the knobs (2022 victim of the pandemic)

Only daShadow knows...Not sure how far in the future that will be, but it is coming.
I mean how often are you really changing?...mine is in auto, set to my temp of liking...I haven't touched the controls in probably a year LOLI'm not a fan (pun intended) of the HVAC controls on the screen. I even miss having the temperature displayed on the knobs (2022 victim of the pandemic)
Depends on the time of year. Unfortunately, the humidity in Wisconsin makes setting the temperature constant at 72 or so is impractical atleast for me in the summer. Once the humidity is removed from the car the comfort level is fine being stationary. Once you’ve had it in a vehicle it’s tough to go back to without. First world problems I know, but just providing my feedback.I mean how often are you really changing?...mine is in auto, set to my temp of liking...I haven't touched the controls in probably a year LOL
Definitely moving everything to the screen saves money but something’s are hard to get used to. For years Electron Microscopes used knobs for everything. Then someone decided it could all be replaced with a PC. There was a huge pushback especially for the magnification and focus knobs. But now it’s getting to be the norm. The same will be for cars. At some point they’ll all be like Tesla with a single big screen tablet. Heavy sigh!I played with SYNC 4 and the large screen at my dealer when the 4.5G Escape showed up on their lot.
Like it.
Like the large screen. Getting controls up higher more in line-of-sight with the windshield is good.
Ii use the volume controls on the steering wheel anyway, as mentioned.
It's also cost savings, as mentioned. Wonder how many individual parts make up the physical climate-control unit.
Read that a large number of parts were reduced in going from the 3G to 4G Escape. Cost savings. Easier to manufacture. Fewer parts to have at the plant.
Always amazed at how many parts have to be produced, delivered, inventoried, on the line at the right time to produce a vehicle.
I much prefer a smaller screen and manual dials and buttons...Not sure if this was already posted. From Ford Authority:

There goes the buttons.
In a poll on Ford Authority asking about losing physical climate control buttons most prefer buttons.

Per the article some manufacturers are adding back some buttons.
