Hello,

I am now sitting at the dealer's having my recall service done. This is the software update to fix screen issues.

I got a letter in the mail last week. Issue, "your vehicle may display a blank instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) upon start up." Etc.

I asked the Service guy if this has manifested in any vehicles he knows of? (High volume dealer and service center).

He said, "no, none." " but they issued a safety recall so we will follow that."

This is supposed to take about 4 hours with my oil change. Yes, I am bored, it's raining, and I have nowhere to go. Wait, they are done in 2:45. Reasonable.

Anyway, has anyone actually experienced the problem? It sure sounds like one should turn the car off and wait. Maybe even disconnect the battery and reboot. Any ideas?
This is just out of curiosity.

I have yet to hear of any BS or Bronco owner report this happening. I am also on the Bronco6G forum. A few of the guys there have upgraded their 21-24 Broncos with the full digital cluster that comes on the 2025 and had some concerns about it since the dealer will not be able to apply the update to those who swapped the cluster.

However, no one with a 2025 Bronco or a 21-24 Bronco that did the swap have mentioned anything about this actually happening to them.

Had my recall done. Never blacked out. But, one of my front collision sensors would randomly come on. (displaying the front camera.) Usually right after starting and pulling forward. But it did come on a couple of times while driving. Since the recall service it has not happened. Fluke? I dunno.

It happened to me twice on the same day. I drive for my job and start and stop multiple times a day. When starting the info at the very bottom was there but the rest of the screen was blank for roughly 10 seconds then the different elements began to appear, first the speed, then the fuel gauge, then the subtle background. I had the screen on the mode that only shows the speed and fuel level. I think I read it is has only happens when you have multiple starts and stops in a day. I am scheduled to have the update/recall on the 29th.
of note, it has only happened a couple of times, on one day,

Also, I never reported it since it is a known issue and I already have an update scheduled.

The IPC can 100% be updated via an OTA update. This does not have to be done by the dealer; all vehicles will eventually update themselves.

Since our vehicles are on the internet, this is what I thought would happen. Maybe it's too much data for some vehicles. Idk.

Not at all. IPC updates are about 200MB. APIM updates are the biggest ones; those can be up to 6GBs and are also done over the air. The problem is that all manufacturers (with the exception of Tesla and Rivian) struggle with rolling out over the air updates properly and in a timely manner.
