Replaced the battery in my 2021 BS BB on Thursday ran fine Friday, Saturday was having weak startups. Auto stop comes on at a red light on a highway and she dies. Not able to start her back up, had to have it towed. Any similar issues?

There are similar stories from a few others

Have you had recall 24S24 done prior to the failure to restart at the red light?

Did you lose all power? No hazards or anything? Did you have to manually put it in neutral?

No I literally got the notice in the mail about that recall a week or so ago. You think that could be it?

No not all power everything worked on the inside, radio, hazard lights, the touch screen still worked. Yes we did have to pull the release chord to put it into neutral.

Need some more information. Who replaced the battery? The Bronco is about 3 years old so the original battery lasted about as long as expected. Maybe the new battery was defective from the start. . Since you have been driving for about 3 years and didn't have a problem with the issues related to the recall I am thinking that was not the issue with the new battery. Keep us posted on why this happened.

My dad replaced it, he’s worked on cars for more than 40+ years. I will say this battery replacement was a pain because you have to take so much stuff apart to get the battery out. But we followed a step by step YouTube video to do it. When the car died I assumed the battery was dead due to a parasitic draw on it but when we tried to jump it it wouldn’t start and it started smoking from the engine bay. The jumper box said the battery was at 12volts so the battery is good. But when driving the car was automatically shutting off the auto stop/start (which I read was a sign of not enough battery voltage) except the last light I was at the stupid auto stop kicked on and killed the car. It’s at a shop now so maybe I’ll find out Monday what wrong. I’ve never had any issues with this car until Thursday.

Did you reset the battery monitoring system? Curious if that has anything to do with it.

I’d like to see if I could assist with your Bronco's concerns. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage so I can start looking into this on my end?

Bad starter might explain the smoke from the engine bay when you jump started the vehicle and it wouldn’t start.
Yes the guy that tried to jump it said he has a hunch it was the starter because he said it was hot to the touch.
