Yeah this thread is about the 2.0
My point was that the 1.5 could not average 30 mpg’s In the real world.
I also don’t think every reader knows how to calculate true mileage.
When I write a post I try to give something to every reader.
I would hope everyone knowing how to calculate is the norm but I doubt it.
Hello all, I know this thread is about 2.0 mpg but I needed to chime in about my 1.5 mpg. To start with I've made some mods that really helped mpg, (CAI & custom exhaust plus oil & fuel additives). Plus I make a concerted effort to use cruise as much as possible, drive the speed limit and use Auto Stop all the time, also coast into red lights and ease into green lights.

My Trip 1 odo avg. with 3337 miles is 35.2 mpg.
My Trip 2 odo avg. with 11848 miles is 33.4 mpg. (461:46hrs)

The odometer miles reset to zero after it hits 9999.9, the hours continue without resetting. Doing the math by hand shows +/- 0.1 deviation. The ECU accuracy hits the 0.1 difference at around 3000 miles. Under 3000 miles the accuracy decreases quite a bit.
Im sure there are some mpg bashers frothing at the mouth thinking "impossible". All I can say is I drive with the goal of maximizing mpg and spending as little as possible on fuel. I've used Chevron 87 exclusively since my BS was new. So thats it, I wish I could chime in on 2.0 mpg. If I can get the BS Heritage I want I'll post a mpg thread.

It is another inch over factory, from Ford Bronco Lifts. As said elsewhere, its not the height but the wheel well width that limits tire size. A 235/70 will really depend on how square the shoulder is on the tread, because it is that close to rubbing when turning. Since the well liner is felt, rubbing really wont harm anything though. A lot have done 245/65 with no problems, which is wider but slightly smaller diameter.
Thanks for your review . Any side shots of your first edition would be appreciated?

Mine is 23.3 mostly city type driving after 7k miles. Using regular cost per mile is .15 cents per mile.

Yea I was getting just under 28mpg on the highway myself. Somewhat off of my 2020 Ford Escape titanium which also had the 2.0 EB engine, I was getting 30mpg with the Escape. Makes sense, sits taller, boxier and the AT tires.

I’m getting 23.7 but I have a 1.5 inch lift kit, and 235/ tires. Right after I bought it I did some work trips of 100* miles on backroads so the speed
Limit was 55mph and I had eco
Mode on. Dash read 34 at end of both trips and matched at the pump. But I had stock 225 tires then, and no lift. now days I just hop in and drive and get 23.7.

I have a '22 Badlands approaching 20K. Average since birth: 29.5. I drive most of my miles on a 55 mph divided highway or the interstates. No off-roading, tho after experiencing the Off-Rodeo in September, I plan to take it on some local trails come spring. Absolutely LOVE my Badlands!!

UPDATE:

I've tracked fuel used over the life of my Badlands on a Google spreadsheet. Here's a link if you want to see it. Note the two tabs at the bottom. The sheet opens on the "Tracking" tab where I input all the data. The "Totals" tab is self-explanatory.

The EPA estimates 21 MPG city, and 26 MPG highway, with a combined figure of 23 MPG. My lifetime fuel economy sits at 26.7 MPG, so I'm quite satisfied.

I don't believe for a moment that the auto start stop increases ones MPG at all.
I would, but only if the owner got drive thru coffee three times a day. If you have $30/day for coffee, you might as well not worry about mileage and drive a Maserati.

Based on my testing, I don't believe ECO mode does much either. You can get the same behavior out of the car in NORMAL mode if you drive like a sane person. If you don't (or can't) drive like a sane person, you'll simply end up stepping harder on the pedal in ECO mode, which will completely defeat the purpose.

Does anyone know what eco actually does? If its just shift patterns then it wouldn't do much when highway driving?

That, and throttle response. Iagree with you . It makes no logical sense that Ford would program the system such that you have to select ECO mode to get the best fuel economy during steady-state highway cruising.

After several thousand miles of driving, my combined MPG is 23.2 (24 on the dash display). This is similar to my old Big Bend's mileage in the city. I haven't done much highway driving, but from what I estimate, I'd probably get 25-25.5 MPG on "highway-only" tanks.

What am I doing wrong? 22 Badlands. I drive to and from work each day between 70-75 MPH. About 70 total miles. The best MPG I can get is 23.7 MPG.
