2025 Outer Banks purchased June 15th, hit 10,000 miles over the weekend and not a single issue with my “little Pony” to date. Thought I had my first fault when the cruise control suddenly stopped working, but ran the windshield washer and it popped right back, damn Florida bugs. LOL

Our 2025 BL just turned over 11,000 miles. We picked it up @ the end of June. We love it. It gets better mileage than I expected, a little over 27 mpg. We put way more highway miles on it than any off roading, our main purpose was better ice & snow performance. We've had one minor snow experience & it handled it with no problems. Very comfortable ride & decent performance. We traded in our 2019 Mustang GT so ride & performance is all relative.

My 2024 BS Outer Banks also just hit 11K, and no issues at all. Just had the 10K inspection done on it. Taking it out to Moab from Sacramento tomorrow for Bronco Off-Rodeo on Friday!!
Hopefully the weather doesn’t cause a change to the schedule or route. We still had a full day last month, but routing was altered because of some washouts from storms the day before.

I'll probably be another 2 years before I hit 10,000 miles. I bought our Bs OB in June 2024 and haven't even hit 5,000 miles yet.
So a big weekend trip is to Pine? :)

We live in Star Valley, So the big weekend trip us usually to Payson 4 miles away. Ha ha!!
Why would anybody think 10,000 is some kind of milestone for no problems on a new vehicle ? Are the expectations that low for these vehicle. I think this is kind of funny, 10,000 miles are nothing!!

Point taken (and I agree)

on the other hand, if a water pump is doomed to fail at 40k, 10,000 miles is 25% of the way there

if a transmission is doomed to fail at 60k, 10,000 miles is 16.7% of the way there

if owners could predict failures and vehicle longevity they might be more inclined to take a pass on some vehicles or to buy an extended warranty

a vehicle purchased June 15th now with 10,000 miles represents about 24,000 miles per year so some of its components are aging relatively quickly

10K & 12K were always kind of a milestone for us gray beards, back in the days when the warranty was 12 months 12,000 miles.
Our 3 vehicles average 15K to 20K each per year so 12K is just getting broken in.

2025 Bronco Sport Big Bend, three months old. Will have 3,000 miles on it next week. Started to experience some serious bucking and vibration when going up slight inclines/hills at about 40mph and 1500rpm since exactly the 2,000 mile mark. Pressing the accelerator makes the problem instantly go away. Thinking either torque converter or transmission issue starting to manifest. Not worried about it since it's under warranty. No malfunction lights. Other than that, I really like the vehicle and would buy another.

Given the initial period of high failure rate on a new vehicle is from 90 days out to three years, 10,000 miles of initial usage falls squarely in that range. It's an easily-marked milestone for most folks, and gives a sense of reliability from a normal failure expectancy perspective.

Failures, minor or major, with a car short of that are usually not isolated, and the car is likely to end up being a problem long-term. Getting through that initial period without issue can be indicative of a trouble-free vehicle for years.

The same applies for anything mechanical or electronic, from toasters to computers to power tools. If they haven't failed in some way in the first X number of hours/cycles/months, etc., they're likely to be perfectly fine for the normal expected life of the item.

This all of course assumes conscientious ownership and regular maintenance.
