How quickly time passed when you are having fun. My Badlands has been a good car for me in the last 12 months and 10,900 miles. I don't even use it for daily commute. It has been taking us on road trips or just a Saturday drive somewhere for a bike ride.

(more than few trips up into the Sierras)

I'm sure I share the same thoughts with many people about our cars here on the forum:
  1. comfortable to drive on road trips
  2. it handles dirt road/trails as well as highway. Not a sports car on the mountain road but it does fine.
  3. Decent power coming from the 2.0T
  4. Great styling combining modern and classic looks of the Bronco
  5. Good sound system (after some easy upgrades with the speakers)
  6. Love the rear hatch window can be open
  7. Very functional interior with lots of organizational storage space. tho not a luxury car, but interior is not bad
  8. Love the Cyber Orange color!
I remember last year the painful wait of 7+ months getting the car. Dealership pulls funny stuff on the price...all passed now. A fun filled year shadows those memory.

but......just as I'm happily driving somewhere....

Ford Bronco Sport 1 year anniversary and a Coyote 1693525610513

a coyote got in front of me on the freeway...poor animal....I hit it with my right front fender as I tried to slow down hoping it will run across my car (from left to right). Normally, I don't' try to slow down and let smaller animal just go under the car. I tried to push it out but the plastic fender/bumper is pretty hard.

anybody has any idea of popping this out other than taking the bumper off the car?

I think the standard procedure, with a plastic bumper, is to heat it up (I’m guessing, from the back side) and pop the dent out. I’m sure someone will chime in soon with some detailed instructions and what to use as the heat source. Glad you’re enjoying your BS…. Good luck!

I've popped some big and small dents out of plastic bumpers using a heat gun from Harbor Freight and a crowbar with a tennis ball on the end of it for leverage and force. Just don't get too close to the bumper with the heat so you don't melt it. If you have someone else that can help one of you can be pushing on the bumper while the other heats it up until you start to see it popping the dent out.

Sorry to see that, I dread getting the first “bash” in mine. You live in SoCal, just park it in the sun next week and it’ll probably be ready to push into shape by afternoon ??

thanks to all. sounds like heat is the ticket.

 looks like you are also in the neighborhood...yeah, if I left the car out in the sun and a mirror under the front of the bumper, I'd able to push that out with ease during heat wave earlier this week.

? you won’t need to wait until afternoon. That bumper will be warm enough by lunch time.

Best to use a heat gun, or a hair dryer, just go over it and check the temperature, if you can touch it without burning yourself your not going to melt it, and gently apply pressure on the back

Considering how much you enjoy the car, I would suggest you check with your dealership and/or a reputable body shop and have them make the repair. They have the knowledge, experience and tools to do the job perfectly. Your insurance should cover the cost.

I would try the heat method with force, or heat cycling - hot on the inside and cold on the exterior of the dent so the cooling "pulls" the dent out in the direction of the cool water.

I also ran over a coyote (or a mangy mutt... hopefully not). I was driving on a divided highway with concrete barriers on the fourth of july. Last minute I saw something running down the left lane. I slowed to about 30 because it was strafing left and right looking like it was going to come into my lane. It turned back looking right at me and drifted into my lane. I couldn't turn into the barriers, so it went right under my left tire. A few other cars behind me also hit it as well. I teared up on the way home thinking it likely could have been a dog terrified on fourth of july, but now I try to convince myself it was 100% a coyote.

I also feel bad when I hit an animal on the road but, as a driver, your first responsibility is keeping yourself and your passengers safe. Don't feel too bad. You did the right thing.

And other innocent motorists. Please don't swerve into my lane to avoid killing Bambi.

I got the exact same dent from a rock on the trail. Just undo a few of the push pins on the felt fender liner for access to the back of the plastic bumper. Heat it up with a heat gun held about 6-8 inches away (don't roast the plastic!) and push on the back of the plastic with a hot pad until you've returned it to its regular shape. Push the pins back in and you're done.

A pair of push pin pliers is really handy for releasing them without damage, but you can do it with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
