So I've gotten my 2022 Outer Banks, loving it so far. Mine even came with the trunk button! Going to be ordering the folding headrests and temperature control dials with the screens. Other than that my only real complaint is that the gear shift dial feels kinda plasticky compared to the 21...
Checking in with you guys. Hope you all get your cars soon! I’m going to post a detailed rail tracking guide for those that aren’t already aware of the steps hopefully tomorrow.
Question for those who have gotten their cars…do yours have a trunk button? This was a feature that was...
Dealer called. Car came in TONIGHT! In his words, he was actually “looking at the car with his own eyes”. Should be prepped and ready for pickup tomorrow or next day. So excited!
Time for some updates. For @Jenbeth, UP officially changed their messaging to “Release from Industry”. See below
Also, I called my dealership yesterday, asked about an ETA. They told me September 29th. I told them Ford said in an email it would be Sept 16-22, they said nope, the 29th.
I asked...
September 22nd. I’m wondering if the trucking process really does take nearly a month?
An update for @Jenbeth, United Road is still inactive and UP is the same but NS has an update, it now says “Actual placement of car – Doremus autoramp New Jersey September 3 9 AM”
For those curious, here's the full path my rail car took from Hermosillo to New Jersey. It was pretty fun calling each day and marking up the map as it went. I'm going to make a digital version eventually and put it in a separate post all about railroad tracking.
Hey @Jenbeth - Norfolk Southern says my rail car got to the Doremus Auto Ramp at 8:08pm. Falls in line with what UP said, since they use central time and NS uses eastern time.
The weird thing is that the UP trace system doesn’t seem to say anything about it being delivered, other than the...
Check this out - I actually saw my rail car on a Virtual Railfan live stream! Had no idea the number would be written on the side of the autorack, but sure enough, clear as day, there it was! (alongside some rather...colorful political commentary ?)
These are the two clearest screenshots I...
@Jenbeth Is there any chance it did get dropped off, then loaded again?
I totally understand the pain of trying to understand the automated voice. Sometimes a trick I’ve used is opening the Google search app on my phone, and then saying out loud whatever I thought the voice might have said...
This has some really cool smart home implications. For those of us who have HomeKit devices I suppose it doesn’t make a difference, but we use Alexa as our hub. Really cool to be able to adjust lights or house temperature on your way home, or from your driveway.
Glad to hear that some cars are getting closer! Sorry that yours is still stuck @Hooligan88, hope it gets unstuck soon!
Mine is currently in Conway, PA, and it’s been there since 5am. The UP report gives me a “Placed At Industry” estimate of September 2nd.
@Jenbeth how long has yours been off...
How do you know which company is handling it? Both UP and Norfolk Southern are giving me information when I call (NS is usually more updated). The only thing I know for sure is that CSX isn’t handling it, because their information is totally inaccurate when I call them.
Was shelbyville your off-ramp? For me, United Road told me a while back an exact address in New Jersey where they’d be picking it up for the trucking part of the journey. Right now that’s showing up as “Placed At Industry” on Union Pacific railroad. I’ve been getting the faxes from their...
