Turbos most definitely increase an engine’s power. But that is not the same thing as increasing electric current.
Correct - I could have been more clear and tried to clarify when I stated that it operates indirectly from the engine. The main point being, it is not operating off a belt, like a...
Don’t know what to tell you. A turbo is a passive device that works indirectly from the engine.. It’s not powered by electricity, or the engine. It is classified as a passive device.
“Components incapable of controlling current by means of another electrical signal are called passive devices...
Tried to get some pics of a stock Badlands against one with the FordRangerLifts.com 1.75" Lift and 31" tires.
It proved kind of hard to get good pics that really capture the extent of the changes, but some of these do a good job of showing it all:
Obviously taller - but here is how much. Look...
Correct. I hate always being on the other side of these things from Meanderthal, but you are correct: A Turbo does not depend on power from the engine to work, which is the definition of a passive device (where a supercharger is belt-driven, meeting the definition of an active device).
But yes...
Rub aside (because I believe you can go 255/70R17 with the right setup and no rub), don't underestimate ground clearance. That falls under "BL Capabilities", and you can increase it a good bit with the right tires and lift. Ground clearance is a big deal, depending on the kind of offroading...
255/70/R17. I've also got a 1.75" lift, and had to trim a little bit of plastic, but after that trimming, no rub anywhere. Works great. But it's a bit of a project to go this size.
I love the white letters, but actually not all BFG KO2s come with white letters on a side at all. Mine don't, but I would have gone white letters out if they had them.
It's the tires. You have meaty aggressive tread, and as others have said, more of it on the road.
I love the Fuel wheels, by the way, and I've got even bigger tires on mine. And yes - I have substantially more road noise than the Pirelli Scorpion 225/ tires that came on the car. I don't mind...
I'd get ride of it, for sure. If I had a newish car that I honestly wouldn't drive for fear of being stuck in the cold or dark, I wouldn't own that car for 24 more hours.
That is frustrating, and exactly why I do "roll the dice" on extended warranties. I used my 42,000 Ford points on a 7 year/100k Ford ESP plan. After the points, I paid $1,200ish. I was pretty darn confident that the plan would save me $1,200 over those 7 years.
You never know....you can pay...
I hear you.
I gained about 25 horses when I put the same thing on my Aston Martin DB9 and it went from a very fun car to drive to a very fun rocket to drive. :) Definitely wasn't looking for mimicking that with a Bronco Sport, but I also didn't want to feel like I lost HP with my heavier tires.
I've never seen anything from K&N that explains the role of vibration in their filter's performance either, Mark. Did you watch the video that Meanderthal posted from Goodson, contradicting Project Farm's test? It is a fascinating video.
Goodson explains his history with K&N going back to the...
I wouldn't sweat the markup you paid. It never feels good to pay more than what you feel is a fair price, but it sounds like you did find it fair, and it's in the past. From the sounds of it, you keep your vehicles until you wear them out, so that markup really is insignificant. Just enjoy...
I’m honestly open to being moved by the information. I value your opinion. I respect where you are coming from enough to watch the video you posted. I just think that you are making some major leaps that don’t align with the video’s description as to why K&N is so effective.
you are trying to...
Maybe you’re thinking about a different video? That point is never made in this video. This video makes a compelling argument for why K&N is by far the best filter you can buy. And the very last words on this video are if you’re in any kind of doubt as to what filter to buy just do yourself a...
I just played that full video, and can’t connect the dots between your recommendation for using a paper filter versus the point this gentleman makes about K&N. His point is that there is nothing that performs like a K&N for both flow and filter. That if you want peak performance, K&N is the way...
My first - and likely only - engine performance modification.
Love it. Love how well the engine "breathes" now. Clearly opens up the intake. I'd put one of these on a V12 that I used to own, and it was unreal. The "swooooosh!" of the intake was so cool, and the performance improvement was...
Man....I tend to stay away from red vehicles, but seeing the pics you just posted, that red & black combo is absolutely awesome looking. If I ever were to end up with a Bronco, that might now become my must-have color. I love it.
