Finally took your advice and pulled the cable off. Unsnapped it from the bell crank and removed the bolt holding the cable to the top of the transmission. Zip tied the loose end up next to the battery. WOW what a difference! The hissing noise is GONE! The clacking noise on downshift is GONE...
FWIW, at 17,000 miles mine doesn't do it as much anymore. Had it at the dealer and I couldn't reproduce it on a ride along, they never heard it either. I tried disconnecting the manual park release cable (very easy to do with no tools) and it made no difference. They did hear the hissing noise...
Bumping this thread. Any new solutions? Everyone I talk to on the bluetooth phone comments how loud it is!
I believe the sound comes through the stereo speakers on the dashboard, not a relay under the dash like it was in older cars. It fires straight up into the microphone.
Oh man...I had the exact same accident a few years ago in my Ridgeline. The guy was on his phone and not paying attention. He was a little weightlifter guy, started screaming his fat head off. If he wasn't too short to reach my face I'm sure he would have tried to punch me. I fought with...
False alarms happen...there's a curved neighborhood street that I drive frequently and it thinks I'm about to crash into a parked car. There have been 2-3 alerts in 16,000 miles that had no visible cause.
Cars are designed with target markets in mind. The first thing an automaker considers when developing a new model is, "who is this car for?" Ford may have perceived that there was a demographic who wasn't being served by other automaker's offerings. If this demographic includes women, then...
The seats in the BS are very…”m’eh”. This is from a company that made the Transit 250 with the best seats I have ever had. And I have owned a lot of Volvos.
I did disconnect the manual park release cable as detailed in the TSB, it has not changed the hissing. The scraping noise at downshift seems to have been eliminated, although it was not doing it the day I brought it in for service either.
Naturally, the dealer said “come pick it up, we can’t find anything”. Their method of diagnosing the issue was to drive another car. So, if you have a rotten egg, and it smells just like another rotten egg, then it must be normal for eggs to smell rotten. Who is hungry for some Green Eggs and...
I drive 20k miles/year in a lot of industrial neighborhoods and construction sites, nails and screws are a regular thing regardless of which tires I have. Just a fact of life, I'm afraid.
I run tubeless tires with sealant on my mountain bike, and haven't had to fix a flat in 6 years. I know...
Finally took mine in for the hissing and scraping noises. I couldn't reproduce the scraping sound (of course!) when the tech rode along but he did say the hiss was abnormal.
I had thought to drive a little further to get it to dealer A who had diagnosed an elusive issue with my Transit 250, but...
I'm jealous of the new Maverick and its FITS system. Love that Ford is encouraging people to design and make their own accessories. I just got a printer and it's been running nearly every day with something new.
Thanks for the reply. The Prusa has been at the top of my list. It’s a lot of money but, “buy once, cry once” is something I’ve learned the hard way. Over. And Over. Again.
