Itās not just the bulges, the majority of the hood surface is completely flat so thereās a lot of area to catch the sun. On a long drive it really does add to the fatigue. Thought about having it wrapped with matte black, but Ford did such a nice job with the design that I prefer my BS to appear...
I have some of that thin gray carpet from HD, I bet I can slide it between the metal and the liner with some Gorilla Glue, and hold it together with a jack while the glue cures.
Half the problem is with my stress-addled head, and half is the design of the dial shifter. About 3 times now, Iāve accidentally shifted from Reverse into Park, meaning to shift to Drive. Itās just soo easy to turn it the wrong way. Only once did I hear the pawls grind in the transmission, but...
I have been hearing a fluttering sound underneath the car, so I crawled under for a look. Iāve done a couple of off-road excursions so far, donāt remember when it might have happened but now thereās a hole in the fiber underbody liner. Iād consider just pulling the whole thing off, but it does...
Got a quarter sized rock chip at 500 miles. Had it filled but it didnāt help much. There was enough delamination from the impact that it wouldnāt fill all the voids. Now 6,000 miles later Iāll finally get the glass replaced under my insurance policy.
One thing I learned is that the driver...
I have the same issue with XM. Doesnāt bother me because I wonāt be continuing it after the free trial. I really love the Outlaw Country station though, Elizabeth Cook is my new crushā¦
Really, Iām shocked when any of this tech works at allā¦the highway markings here in CA are so bad, even I sometimes have trouble seeing where the lanes are.
Iāve gotten the warning twice, once in 25 MPH city traffic which seemed to be a false alarm. Second time was dense high speed freeway traffic and a large rubber door mat was blowing around in the lanes, the alert system knew it was a problem several seconds before I did (my brain was busy...
I gave the Forester a good look. Starting price at $25k was quite attractive. The CVT was the deal breaker though. I have no regrets with the BS, I lucked out.
As for the fan noises, there seem to be cooling fans on each headlight shroud to keep the LED circuitry cool.
But the relay/solenoid clicking has me baffled, it occurs very randomly...it seems to affect the brake pedal resistance, I wonder if it has something to do with the accident avoidance...
I hear the same rattle/clacking noise while slowing down. With 59,000 miles left on my warranty, Iām in no hurry to have a hack mechanic rooting around in my engine bay with no clue what heās looking for. Will wait for Ford to figure it out and issue an official solution.
Handy feature if you get annoyed with the A-S-S (Auto-Start-Stop) turning off the engine then restarting it when you shift to Park. I donāt bother shifting to Park anymore. H/T to @a33maxi
Catalytic Converter theft is a serious problem here in the Bay Area, as it is in many urban areas. Higher ground clearance vehicles are particularly targeted because theyāre easy to crawl under.
One of my customers recently bought 2 brand new Fuso box trucks, and within a week had the cats...
Fuel tank is too small...Iām getting about 350 miles on a tank with mixed driving. Hoping the highway MPG on long trips will be better so I can get 400 miles or more.
OK thatās crazy. I figured it was all electronic...but thereās a little motor that physically turns the knob back to P. WOW!
Thanks, I never would have thought of this.
Iāve never given much thought to hood deflectors, but after getting a quarter size chip in my windshield with only 450 miles on the odo, it seems like this windshield might be a rock magnet.
-Do they actually work?
-What is the MPG hit if any? (The BS has the aerodynamics of a brick anyway so...
