What you're saying makes sense and it's obviously not what I want to hear but I would say that a 'safety margin' would matter. For instance if there's a fairly large margin I'd know that if I drive fairly slowly leaving a lot of room I'd be confident that I'd be OK. If there is none or very...
Thanks. The static weight rating is, I think, 600 lbs. So a tent with people in it, even doing the tango, is within weight limits except if their doing it while the car is driving down the highway. OTOH I've seen racks with all kinds of equipment on the roof, which along with the rack must be...
Thanks that's kind of what I suspected but wanted to make sure before I buy the racks, load up and go on a trip in May or June. I suspect I'll tie down the kayaks so they won't slide right off on a turn. j/k.
Hi, I'm planning on purchasing 2 Hullavators (or the like) to put 2 kayaks on the roof. I calculate that altogether, it would weight close to 200 lbs. I understand that the dynamic weight limit is 100 lbs with a moonroof. But how firm is that? I'm always very careful when I have stuff on the...
I basically skidded the truck around the parking area first in Normal mode then in Slippery to check the difference. Didn't think to check the display though. Slippery mode dampens the acceleration and there was definitely less skidding. But I didn't really do it enough to REALLY test it out.
I actually really like the BL + BL interior much better than the Navy or a black interior. To each their own, which is why Ford's choices are a real mystery. Why did they need to make 4 trim packages + First Edition? Why not offer the 2.0 in the OB as an option? They'd make a lot more people...
Though it snowed a little here today, I had to work and so didn't take out the BS yet in the white stuff. So so far I'd have to say that my favorite car for the snow was my first car: 1963 Chrysler 300 with bias-ply tires. I don't remember if I had snow tires (I think I did) but I went...
None at all that I could ascertain. Opening the front doors caused some drops on the seats, which scared me at first because my previous car developed leaks towards the end but this was just from opening the doors!
Drove to Vermont for the holiday weekend. No off-roading but the snow and mud being kicked up from the above-freezing temps made my car really dirty. First car wash when I got back at around 1100 miles.
Why don't they just call them all "Premium" packages, or "Extra Cash Outta Pocket" packages? Having different names for each trim line is still confusing.
I would like to see a federal law that says you cannot put a speaker in the dash, engine compartment or muffler to change the engine sound. Want to change the sound? Get a more powerful engine/louder muffler. Otherwise it's just fake BS. Maybe I'll get an e-bike and rig it to sound like a Harley...
I learned about turning off traction control in my 08 Mercury Mariner. It was an obscure switch under the center dash you had to hold for 5 seconds till the indicator flashed. But it worked. Stuck on ice with it on; drove off like it was nothing when turned off.
So would you say that if I rig the roof with good crossbars, kayak holders, and 2 kayaks, in total weighing maybe upwards of 200 lbs, but drive carefully, that would be OK? I have a moonroof, but I think it would be ridiculous if I could not carry 2 kayaks, and I'm always careful with stuff like...
As always, buyer beware. Why would anyone buy a used BS at new prices? I could not find what I wanted, and took a few days and called every dealer within 100 miles until I did. $2000 over MSRP minus $1250 in rebates. Plus as soon as the chip shortage works itself out prices will start to go back...
I've had my BL for only a few weeks and haven't really driven it much, but I really like the drivability and interior. The luggage compartment - eh. I was originally in the market for an OB because I really don't do any off roading, but a dealer near me had a beautiful loaded BL in Carbonite...
