I would say - Greater towing capacity with the 2.0 engine.
The option of ordering that engine in the BB or OB (you might want to oomph but not the off-road capabilities).
Inner wheel well storage knock-out panels in the trunk (my 08 Mercury Mariner had those - very handy).
Sync 4.

I love my BS, but yes it has fairly high wind noise. Not so much when everything's closed, but I like to drive with the windows open, and the noise and draft is much more than any other car I've owned. So is opening the sunroof either all the way, or just in vent mode. I'm sure it has something...
To answer some questions, especially the OP's, I have the opposite rig: Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars on Thule feet, and Yakima kayak assist. I already had the feet from a previous car that used 43" bars. These bars are 53" and I have no issues with the length. Not sure of the height of the Yakima...
Just an update: due to the weight of the ‘yak, just lifting it up to the arms was not easy.
I kept tightening it and then taking it down 3 times as it seemed unbalanced/loose. Eventually, adjusted the pads and bow/stern lines and it was good to go. Right now I’m 2 hours into a trip at low...
So I got the Yakima Showdown with 53” bars. I have a 58 lb 14-footer and am absolutely terrified of having done something wrong. Can someone look at my pics and either reassure me or tell me if anything looks awry? TIA
f
I taped a yardstick to the top of one of the crossbars, secured the hooked end of the tape measure down with a brick and unravelled the tape measure up and read the measurement to the bottom of the yardstick. So the width of the tape measure did not come into play.
I'm confused too! I measured from the driveway surface to the top of the bars twice and got the same measurement. By everything I've read it should have been higher. I guess I'll find out next time I drive to work as to whether I hit the ducts. As to your Q about tires, standard on a Badlands...
The listed height of a Badlands (from the Ford website) is 71.4". Does anyone know if this is to the roof or to the top of the rails? Anyway, the garage where I work has a maximum height of 74" (there are some low pipes and beams). I have put on Thule Wingbar Evos over Rapid Crossbar feet and...
Thanks. I'm a little surprised because that means that the Hullavator takes up only 21". I thought it would be more. I think it would work. My previous car used 43" bars and I had 2 kayaks up. I'll post pics when I get everything set up. I think if the weight was OK (it's not) I would be able to...
Which size bars do you have? I've heard that 53" is too short, and I've also heard that the length is fine. I want to put a Hullavator on one side and J-racks on the other side and make sure I have the right length but not get one longer than I need. Thanks.
I notice that people either consider it a must-have, or not worth it. I'm in the latter camp. I never use cruise control. Over the years I try it occasionally on long trips but then just turn it off. My driving style requires me to pay constant attention and micro-adjustments, and just sitting...
Nice. Would you say there's roof for a set of J-racks on the other side for a second kayak? I want to put up 2 kayaks but 2 Hullavators would necessitate much longer bars and would greatly exceed the weight rating.
Actually it's a little annoyingly complicated in that the bars are rated at 220 lbs but if you use the Rapid Crossroads feet then THOSE are rated at 165 lbs (and you use the lowest rated part as the max weight rating).
Further, the dynamic weight rating of the car is irrespective of what kind of...
That's gonna be my situation: 2 yaks, one 51 lbs, one 58 lbs, plus the crossbars, a Hullavator (or the like - it's just too heavy and too high for me) and a J-rack. That's min 160 lbs. And you had zero issues? Were you ever driving highway speeds with it? Sometimes I go out of state with my...
Absolutely correct. I'm planning on putting 2 kayaks up
Wow that's amazing that they actually said it's 'flexible'. Unfortunately my total weight, with two kayaks, crossbars, one Hullavator and one rack, will be something like 160 lbs. (and I have a sunroof too). But my thought (hope) is that...
