This is my inside voice but I’ll say it anyway… is there anything that prevents you from providing OP with the former owners contact info (assuming is in the documentation for the recall work) so that OP could contact the former owner and ask about known issues with the gear selector?
If there is a way to access that, I don't know of it. Even if I could, it would be unethical to do so. Whether the issue existed when the previous owner traded it in or not, the vehicle was sold as a CPO, so the dealer should have caught it.

Not to mention it could possibly be unlawful depending on the jurisdiction, and almost certainly asking for civil litigation whether or not an actual tort occurred.

The issue occurred today again so I took it to the dealership after it went into gear about 45min later. Hopefully Ford dealership can find the root cause and repair accordingly.

Well, today it DID report a code. However, it shows up as a stored code and not an active fault. The fault type of 64 is for a signal failure. If the brake switch is not sending a signal to the system when you press the pedal, it won't let you take it out of park. Once they plug it in and pull the codes, they will see this.

3:29pm, but not sure what time zone this is reporting on. It is 6:03pm here now, so 2.5 hours ago.

The invalid data code on the IPMA is also referencing an invalid signal from brake control module A, so that code is just a byproduct of the issue. There is nothing wrong with the IPMA.

Several different things can can effect the operation of the rotary gear selector.
1. Low battery voltage.
2. Bad brake light switch, do the brake lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed.
3. Safety interlock switch.
4. Bad or obstructed rotary gear selector mechanism/switch/module, has any liquid been spilled in the area around the rotary gear selector.
5. Sport parked on an incline binding up the transmission parking pawl.
Someone had a shifter issue a while back that was caused by having a hair scrunchie wrapped around the gear selector.

Surprised it has not registered any codes.
The dealer should be able to figure out the problem, they have access to more information.

Bad brake light switch was number 2 on my list of possible causes from my post on page 1 of this thread.

At least it's fixed now.

Yea, once it reported that specific code, it was pretty obvious that was the culprit.
