Heaven forbid something happened to your Bronco Sport... what are you going to get next?

What are you replacing your Bronco Sport with, if you lost it today?

Slate Truck is that that Amazon Truck?
Slate is a potential new North American manufacturer, expected to begin manufacturing in 2026 with the Truck available in 2027. Jeff Bezos is one of the investors. MSRP stated to be around $27k for a basic EV Truck but with federal incentives and in some areas with state incentives could reach as low as $16.5k (assuming incentives available in 2027). Comes with no radio, no screen and crank windows but said to have a planned 100+ options.

Hope it won’t be late otherwise people might nickname it the S, Late.

If I had to do it now, I’d trade in the Lexus ES350 and get a Lexus RX350. I’ve tried talking my wife into trading her HRV and my ES350 on a RX350 but she’s not interested. Too big she says. I know it won’t be as good on the road as the ES or as good off the road as the BS, but it would be one less car to deal with.

If I lost my BS today what would I get or do next? This is a little funny to me, you see we have two of the same BS. Just one is a year newer and they are different color. So I think Because I have two now, I would try out a Jeep Gladiator. Yes it cost more than a Slate. But I can drive a long ways and do more with it. lol

...Let me think;
...my experience with this BS over the last 3 months shows it to be
an over computerized, over complicated; basically; street/maintained roads only, vehicle, apparently designed for women/girls/picnics; my minimum off road tires 12.50x33 inch MUD tires will not even fit, and it will not likely be able to do even easy trails (high clearance required). The axle strengths appears very marginal and it cannot be easily equipped with a V-8 or strong, manual, 5 speed transmission.

I would like to go back to a custom, analog, Jeep CJ or analog TJ The digital TJ (rubicon was not acceptable; gave it away). High strength axles, a swapped in port injected light weight small V8 (a stroked HO302 or a 351 would be about right), with a good 5speed and a 4.0 :1 low/first gear, would be highly desirable.

Note; I see the ARB page lists bronco sports so there may, yet, be hope; from down under.

I bought this POS/street vehicle as a grocery getter because I could no longer get parts for my old 2 door Explorer and l may yet end up getting a different second vehicle (NOT FORD) to drive for enjoyment/recreation; at which point this B.S. BS will get dumped.

Enjoy!

What a weird post. Sexist much?

The Sport has more than adequate offroad capabilities. It has proven itself up against some of the best OEM off-roading vehicles.

There are videos everywhere showing what it’s capable of.

But, sure. I guess women never offroad, either. I’ll have to let my lady friend know she can’t take hers off road anymore.

Pshew… thanks for that. 🙄

There’s plenty more examples for anyone willing to look for them.

Note this is a first model year Badlands, four years before Sasquatch.

I have wheeled with some very good very aggressive women wheelers; Let me say they are relatively rare In my experience. ('Though I expect that everyone has a story).

Perhaps I'll be surprised when I take this offroad (though I think it unlikely)...
The low ground clearance, atrocious approach and break over angles will prevent me from attempting the most fun moderate trails around here.

The street tread tires will, likely make it founder in even medium mud/snow. I shudder to thing what it will do on a steep decompose granite hill think small relatively sharp edged loose pea gravel.. and the 24.6 inch fording depth is almost a joke...The last jeep that I had, admittedly somewhat modified, would push a bow wave with the windshield (more than 40" off the ground).

Other than mentioning the patriot trail system near Penrose co. I won't get into the harder trails This BS big bend filly wouldn't sand a chance....the trail system is mostly patronized by rock buggys; although we did manage to get a modified CJ through it with out damage.

Rather than destroy it off road I believe I will let it fulfill its original purpose as a grocery getter in at most a few inches of snow.

I have done most of the 4 rated trails (old rating system) in Moab with a, lightly modified (Dana 44 in place of the Dana 35) Jeep YJ Not the most capable vehicle either; including hell's gate hell's revenge etc. Pritchett canyon run from the river end toward the main highway has always been a favorite.

Enjoy!

A JL Wrangler Rubicon is currently on the next up list, regardless if something were to happen to my BS. Currently in search of the right one.

If i end up with a Wrangler and then something happened to my BS, I'd probably consider a lightly used Toyota or Honda hybrid sedan or small SUV.

We've been down the full EV route and I think we're done with that experiment. That will be going up for sale soon.

I think it's time to try out one of these planetary gear CVT hybrids that are supposed to have incredible fuel economy and reliability.
