During a routine oil change on our 23 Sport my tech told our second water pump is starting to leak. First water pump was replaced at 10,000. Second one is going bad at 45,000 miles. Warranty will cover it but that’s beside the point. So far: water pump failures, sway bar and both rear shocks replaced. Not including factory recalls. This vehicle never leaves the hard surfaced hwys. If my wife didn’t like driving this car I don’t know if I’d keep it. We keep saying “as long as we don’t have any major problems…”. We fortunately have a 150,000 extended warranty and it looks like we’ll need it!

What motor? The sway bar or sway bar bushings? Fords factory shocks have always been terrible....

1.5 L eco-boost. Tech said it's becoming a common problem. I believe it was one complete sway bar. I'm assuming the bushings were what wore out.

There is no noticeable leakage under the vehicle. Tech said they "knew where to look."

We were noticing a clunking sound when going over a bump or turning.

One complete sway bar? Maybe I am unfamiliar with the suspension on these. Do you mean a "swaybar end-link"? Hopefully the water pump isn't internal like the 3.5 cyclones.

It is not internal, it is external. I have a new factory pump just sitting on the shelf in the box. Cheers!

The tech just told me one sway-bar.

4th timer here. In 8000 miles. I bought mine with 14,000 miles on it, God only knows how many may have been replaced before I bought it. The first two pumps showed very slow lowering of coolant level in the reservoir. The last two I didn’t notice any change, the dealer said they needed to change out the pump when the car was in for different recall work.

It’s too bad, I loved that car, but didn’t trust it enough to last long term.

RSH … I’ve seen a few 5th timer water pump owners which seems crazy … I would have walked away just before the warranty ended

Thanks for the update.
Water pumps being replaced 4 and 5 times, that is crazy, not counting the inconvenience factor, what a headache.

For the guys having multiple replacements, are they not doing a chemical flush and thermostat replacement at the same time? Rumors are its sand from block casting. The replacement itself is easy from the videos I have watched.

It was on the invoice. I’m assuming they did, but I didn’t watch them.
The service writer said the latest one should be good….
I have since traded it in.
