Just saw this new recall notice on the Government of Canada motor vehicle safety recalls database website. Not sure if it's Canada only.

2025-281

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the engine block heater could overheat when the block heater is plugged in.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 1.5 L or 2.0 L engine and a factory-installed block heater.

Safety Risk:
An engine block heater and/or wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire.

Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Ford advises you not to plug in the engine block heater until the recall repairs have been completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the engine block heater element. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the block heater electrical cord.

Hi Garth, what year is your Badlands ? Was the block heater cord an option or standard equipment ? When in use, where is this cord located in the engine ?

Does anyone know what BS trim levels and years are involved in this recall ?

Many thanks

Mine is a 2025 Badlands and I believe all bronco sports that come to Canada have a block heater installed. I think the cord was removed by the dealer because of the recall I wish they would’ve explained it to me when I bought it so when I take it in for it first oil change mid December, I’ll make sure to prearrange if possible the situation to be corrected.

I think it’s located on the passenger side of the engine download near the front of course the biggest complaint about the cords is they are too short and can not be extended outside of the engine compartment without an extension cord

This recall affects all 2025 Bronco Sports with a factory installed block heater. In the USA, the block heater is an option. I have it on mine and did get the recall notice. Parts are not yet available to fix it so those with block heaters should not use them until the repairs are completed.

We bought our Bronco Sport in August and we knew it was coming without a block heater because of the recall. As of today our dealership has no ide when we'll get one. I live in Winnipeg and I'm very concerned about my car not starting after sitting unplugged overnight when it's -30!

Getting the notice won't help us until they have replacements available. My new Broco Sport came without one.
